Was high school what you thought it would be, or completely different?
somewhat different. i thought my school would be a bunch of rich brats who wear a&f and stuff, but surprisingly, everyone has their own individual style. i was terrified that they might have freshmen fridays or something, but my school treats freshmen pretty well. haha but there's a lot of drugs, sex, and alcohol at my school. this is what happens when parents give their kids too much privileges.

What do u think of the way High school teachers' teach?
i don't think any of my teachers that i have are incompetent. except for my math teacher.
i love my humanities teachers though. they're amazing and my humanities world geography teacher is WAYY to overqualified for the job she has now.

What is your dream right now or future?
i honestly have no idea. i wish to either open up a really famous coffee shop (haha far fetched), become a writer, or become a pharmacist.

haha nope.

Do you have to wear a uniform?
For band. We get PE credit for marching band which means, marching uniforms.

How are you and your school dealing with the budget cuts?
.... my school is spending MORE. my school is still fairly new and our district provides us with a lot of money.


College/University you hope to get accepted into?
hmmm, if it's in-state, i guess UT, Rice University, SMU, or Baylor.
if it's out of state, then Columbia, UCLA, NYU, Boston University, or Brown.

the school i go to spends a lot of $ compared to other schools in the district. the pool that they've been building costs $1million+. recently, they took money out of clubs for a new marquee on one of the buildings. it was around $20thousand? i don't get the point of the new marquee, anyways "

Some of my classes that i'm taking next year, i want to take over the summer. However, summer school this year has been targeted to only the people who failed their classes. (because of budgets? funny. &no i don't wanna purposely fail my classes ) Anyways, my sister told me it's possible to take those courses at a community college for credit. I want to ask my counselor, but for some reason counselors here are stubborn about that -__-" I want to take alg2/trig and health over the summer so next year i can possibly land in pre-cal honors and skip that one semester of health? :3 is that even possible T_T? OK sorry for my lengthy question ahah. thanks in advance .

^ if im not mistaken, health is not available in community college. health in high school is different from health in college. they have a different curriculum you know? x___x and weren't you suppose to take health during your freshman year last semester along with computer essentials? cuz that's how it went in my school so we could skip that semester in sophomore year. health is really fun and interesting and trust me, you won't regret taking it. cuz it's really...amusing xD specially on the births and stuff. of course, you probably go to a different high school than me, so just try to ask your counselor or a teacher your comfortable with.

as for taking a math/science class in community college, i think you can do that and still get credit for that class. if your district offers it, take advantage of it cuz it's usually free for high school students. plus, you can skip that and go to a more difficult level during the school year.

you can take alg2 at a community college as for health, it would be a no unless you failed it.
plus, i have health/Dr ed. and it's pretty fun.

What do u think of the way High school teachers' teach??
Personally, the teachers at my high school are awesome teachers. They all teacher carefully and explain everything thoroughly. (: I guess it's because we're and AVID school, therefore, if there's something we do not understand, we can bring it to our tutorials in AVID. Some teachers are funny and you can get them off track easily. (: haha.

What is your dream right now or future?
I've decided that I want to become a DENTIST! (: But as for now, my goal is to maintain my high school GPA at 4.0 and walk the stage with a gold robe on!

Do you guys have Spirit Week? And did you guys dress up?
Spirit Week is always the best! Our school actually has two per year--one per semester. And it is really fun. Since my high school is small (consisting of about 260 students) we all are very competitive. It is extremely funny when we see each other and start yelling "Freshmen are going to win. You upperclassmen are going to loose" lol. and then we end up losing. (: it's just really funny. then, on the last day of spirit week, the whole school gets together and we do something like a rally. each class has to come up with a cheer and make their own class poster! and did i dress up? well, we didnt have much dress up days. but i did participate in all of the days. (8 our next spirit week is this upcoming week. monday, our class rep. picked the color purple for us. so yay. PURPLE DAY. lol the seniors have to wear pink . ahahaha./

Was high school what you thought it would be, or completely different?
I kinda had a feeling freshmen year was going to suck and all. But I actually really enjoyed it. I mean everything is just so new and exciting and oh just so fun. It's sad to say that freshmen year is ending soon. )': I've made some really good friends and met some really great people.

i wanted to ask this question;

What do you think makes your high school special?

I wasn't sure if thats the correct way to put it but yea. My school is, to me, "a very special school" because we're given the chance to go to college and high school at the same time (hence; thats why it's called middle college hs). And we're located on a a college campus, community college that is, that's why we only have like 260+ students. (: and each class consisting of approximately 65 students. My school has only NINE teachers total. ONE PRINCIPLE. NO VP. ONE COUNSELOR for all 260+ kids. and TWO office staffs. >.< so small. But it's like a small little family. haha. and the college classes that we take are all transferable. so we get double the credit for both hs and college. (: and since our school has only nine teachers, we have to take some college classes to fill in our missing high school requirements. for example language. we'd have to take two semesters of any language (two semester equals two years of high school at a cc) It sucks though. i want to take KOREAN. but it's not offered at the CC i go to. >.< and for our art credits, we can take photoshop classes. but i hate lab hours. lol. so yeah. this si why i think my high school is special. i could go on more and more but then. OUT OF CURIOSITY, DOES ANYONE HERE GO TO HIGH SCHOOLS LIKE THESE? my school isnt the only one like this, i know there's one in LA and one in FRESNO. lol.

Well, from what I know, you can take a health class at a community college to fill in your high school health class. My counselor even came up to our class and said that if we didnt want to take it over the summer, we cna take it at the community college. So yea, I'd recommend you talking to your counselor first. Or if you do go to a community college you can talk to the counselors over there and ask them about which health class to take. Try looking at a catalog first. it helps a lot. lol. (: I'm planning to take Algebra 2 over the summer too but then it will be kinda hard, considering you will be rushing through 2-3 chapters a week. but I still haven't really thought it over yet.

And from my point of view and experience so far, high school and college is basically the same thing. Except the pace of teachings. lol. And one thing that annoys me the most is, "having to sit on the ground" while the college professors gives lectures. keke.

and i basically went through the whole thread and answered all the questions. lol.

and i do strongly recommend, to those who wants to finish most of the high school requirements (algebra, health, etc.) earlier to go to a community college and finish them over the summer. or take night classes during the school year. (: however, it's best to talk to your counselor first. but i will admit, some high school counselors are juat plain DUMBOS. haha.

How do you like your counselor this year? Do you find having a counselor helpful or useless?

My counselor, at some point, just annoys the heck out of me. Whenever I go up to talk to her and speak of things that I plan doing, she'll go off topic and be all like "you know this and that happened to this and that student so blah blah blah. lol." I transferred during the school year, and at my previous school, i didn't even know they offered health as a class. So when I transferred, i learned that health is a requirement, and most freshmen take it. &computer essentials isn't a requirement. everyone at my school hates that health class because it's so boring..
