QUOTE
"Superstars of Dance," hosted by Michael Flatley ("Lord of the Dance"), is a breathtaking international dance competition led by executive producers Nigel Lythgoe and Simon Fuller, two of the masterminds behind "American Idol" and "So You Think You Can Dance." The unique series will pit the masters of various dance genres from eight countries against each other. Equal parts sporting event, rock concert and artistic exhibition, "Superstars of Dance" is poised to become one the greatest spectacles of dance performance ever seen on television.

Eight countries will participate in the competition with each team comprised of two soloists, one duo and one larger group. Viewers will get to know the competitors and the coaches through the trials and tribulations, both behind the scenes and on the stage. The stakes are high for these artists, as they are not only representing themselves, but also their dance form and their entire nation.

The eight countries currently scheduled to participate include: Ireland, India, USA, Argentina, China, Russia, South Africa and Australia.
"Superstars of Dance" is from 19 Entertainment.

Nigel Lythgoe ("American Idol," "So You Think You Can Dance") and Simon Fuller ("American Idol," "So You Think You Can Dance") are the executive producers.

Has anyone here ever seen this show before? What are your opinions about it?

Personally I think it could have been done without the judging. The concept of various forms of dance competing against each other is in itself flawed. Subpar talent and inconsistent judges only add to the problem. Otherwise, it seems that the creators really had something going with it...

You know when I first saw the previews for this show...I was uber excited...
that is until I watched the show...it was too flawed...

I LOVE watching cultural dances but the judging system was just too weird
or something...I mean how to do you judge one's culture...I know they are
supposed to be judging the "dancing" but it really comes down to preference
not actual difficulty, technicality, or musicality of a dance or anything...

I mean unless all the judges are experts in each field of dance represented on
the show which I'm sure they weren't...so again...how can you give one dance
a 10 while another a 6 or 7 if you aren't familiar with a particular dance...

Some of the scores they gave to certain people just plain confused me...

I thought I'd give the show a chance and kept watching but I eventually stopped...
is it even on any more???

The concept seemed like a good idea but when it actually played out...it just didn't work...
They'll have to come up with some different strategies or something...I dunno...maybe
make it not a competition but that was kind of the whole point of the show...lol...

Oh and you're right about the subpar talent...you know there are better dancers out there
that could have been representing the countries...not to say there weren't really good
dancers on the show but still...

On a side note...I did like the Russian judge...he was funny!!!

Yi Jeong/Kim Bum + Ga Eul/Kim So Eun = Fierce SoEulmates!!!

^ I completely agree with you. Same here, I stopped watching after a few episodes. I got really offended in the episode where that stripper dancer got two scores of "10" from the Irish and Russian judges simply because she was 'sexy.' That just blew it for me. I only had respect for the South African judge for bluntly stating that she only deserved a "4." I didn't bother to watch the finale, but I read about who won: -surprise surprise- it was the United States. The shows over now and I doubt it's going to return. But man, if they ever consider bringing it back, they had better tweak it.

^^ Ahh I've kept up with this show and thought it was bad too about the whole judging thing.
I didn't get to see who won though, but reading your post above me the United States won? Wow...ok.
The show was totally pointless with the judging since everyone is like so different with the culture and everything.
