So very true.
People need to stop lamenting over what they don't have and what they wish they had and take a step back and look and appreciate what they DO have and how LUCKY they are.

sorry but this is just exploitation. it's the same story we've been hearing for years. am i suppose to feel bad that i have shoes to wear? please im over the guilt trip. we all know there are way worse people in other countries but we still go on complaining that our pants doesnt match our shirts. move on... get over it... next! it's better to just say "dont be lazy and dont be greedy" than put up these pictures in our faces.

Very inspiring... but yeah what the guy said above is semi true, and plus his avatar scares me. The same story of don't take life for granted is being told over and over, but one email won't really make too much of a difference, most of us will be like.. aw, so sad, but keep on living our lives. But me myself, I realize my life is spectacular and I'm not famous, wealthy, gorgeous, or whatever. I also must say every night I am thankful for my life.

To me, the point wasn't at all to make you feel guility, it was too make you feel good. Not "feel bad that other people have little" but "be glad that you have so much".

Well we really have different views about the article.
XD if you feel guilty, then i think you've done wrong then?
I mean for me, the email tries to tell us that contentment, although hard to achieve, is what we all need.
We should all feel blessed, because frankly, there are people who have nothing, but still is able to say Thank You God im alive...I live in a place where less fortunate people live in the streets, and poverty supposedly takes away the dignity of a person. A lot of people still has not realized that, and i think what the email aims for is a good cause.

Yes!! .. We all should learn to appreciate, and stop complaining.

Appreciate! Stop being so greedy, selfish, rude, ungrateful etc...

My parent's grew up teaching/telling me how their life was like as a child.

They tell me these things, because they want to teach me to appreciate wot i got, and nothing is impossible.

As mean is this is going to sound...I'm going to say it.

I'm so tired of the arguments that tell people to "stop complaining because other people's lives are worse than yours".
People shouldn't be forced to feel guilty just because they are distressing over matter that are less significant compared to people in Africa's or whatever. Distress is distress. Whether or not someone else is having a harder time shouldn't be added to the burden of the individual already having a hard time. To them THEIR problem is the hardest, stop telling them about other people's problems they can't change or fix.

Like it or not a kid who doesn't like veggies are not going to like veggies any better even if you tell him people in Africa are starving.

The email is almost saying "no one has the right to complain...well maybe except for those 3rd world country people". Well how do you decide who has the right to complain? There is no scale. There should not be a scale. Everyone is entitled to complain no matter how miniscule their problems.

Agree. When looking at these I don't feel guilty I feel like I should appreciate what I have more.

I see it's points, we're living in paradise in comparison, so we should feel grateful and glad we have this life. Not feel guilty, but just be aware that there's people out there who haven't.

Is that so wrong? >_>

I guess it works for some people. The problem is, this sort of technique so overused that people have become desensitized to it--even sick of it. I think it's time for some new ways of raising money for charity.
I drop in from time to time. Sorry if I'm slow to reply.

I agree. I'm all for showing us that there are people who need our help, but please don't tell us 'stop complaining other people have it worse'. It is not my fault that someone was unfortunate enough to be born in a country with no electricity or running water. Please don't make me feel like it is.

it doesn't make me feel guilty, I feel bad. I hate it when people tells you "there are some people worse than you so stop complaining!"
it reminds me how life is unfair. it's so sad, it's like, you have to finish your whole plate of not so delicious food even though you can not
take it anymore just because others are starving? and then end up with a stomachache. -__- I received this email tons of times

I'm surprised the mod didn't close this.
Someone has posted this before, can't find the link now though.
But I do appreciate the message it was trying to send.

Agree. These kind of things aren't made to guilt trip us but to make us appreciate what we have more. It's not our fault that some people are born impoverished, so it doesn't make sense for us to feel guilty. We should start being more appreciative of what we have though, instead of just wanting more and more and more. As Louis CK said, "everything's amazing but nobody's happy."

I think most people just don't want to deal with global problems like poverty. We all have our lives to lead. Its understandable and expected to think of our immediate surroundings before others. And others simply don't care.
