Hey.

I've been to a japanese steakhouse and i looooved their friend rice!

the chef cooked the fried rice in front of me (in between tossing around those crazy knives O_O).

it was just SO yummy though!! i didn't see anything special EXCEPT that he added a blob of yellow stuff.

and when I ate the rice it felt kind of buttery but didn't taste too buttery. so i didn't think it was butter....

any ideas? i tried to look online for what that blob was but can't find out O_O

thanks!

I work at a Japanese Steakhouse so I can tell you what our chefs use.

The ingredients, as far as I can tell, are:

-Rice
-Green onions
-Carrots
-Egg
-Butter-garlic mixture

I'm guessing the blog you talked about is the butter. Our chefs mix together fresh garlic and some herbs (I'm not sure what those are, sorry) and, after frying all the rice/onions/carrots they'll add it in. Then you fry an egg, breaking the yoke, and chop it up into tiny pieces. Then mix together.

They also season it with salt and pepper, and usually a bit of soy sauce. Some of our chefs will also add in a mixture of one of our special sauces, which I'm pretty sure is some ketchup/mayo mix.

I can try to find out more at work tonight.
