Unless I absolutely hate them, like when people stare with rage, I really can't look people in the eye. Today, for example, I met a girl at my friend's party.

"What's your name?"
"Oh *looks down at cards* Pete."
"Peter?"
"Yeah."
"Nice to meet you, I'm ____"
"Hey *waves while looking down*"

THIS is why I'm not good with people ;P

i've got this problem too.. but it's hard for me to look at random people on the street in the eye.. i can look at random people that talk to me in the eye easy. weird, huh? @_@

i can't stand it when guys flirt with me, and do the thing where they stare at you smiling, to see how long it'll take you to look away or just wanna see how you'll react.

i'm like WHAT??? and they just laugh... and do it again and again and again.

ive had ur problem when i was fairly young. i told my friend about it and she told me to at least look at the person's nose.
and i guess it worked coz i can now look at their eyes while talking to them.

You better work on that. Eye contact is important in communicating. It's one of those nonverbal ways of communicating, which account for something like 40 percent of all communication... Something like that. In any case, you'll need to practice making eye contact because first impressions are extremely important, especially in a professional setting

I mean, it's no good saying you can't do both of them. because you HAVE TO.
unless you want to be perceived as someone who doesn't have confidence, and looks not interested.

don't be so shy, they could be just as shy as u...

to come up and talk to someone requires alot of effort, not everyone that brave to do that.

i think u need to stop thinking about urself too much and think about others.

think about how she feels, she prob thinks u dnt want to be her friend. even if thats not true.

If anything your prob just shy around girls right? ... guess u dnt have many girl friends?

Just think of them as a human, and not their gender.

Maybe it's because you have a low self-esteem? You're insecure about your looks?
When talking, you have to look at people in the eyes so you know their reaction. Practice makes perfect.

Ahaha, if a guy was like that I'd think he was cute.
And not in a bad way obcourse, I actually prefer guys like that.

Anyway, I'd be kind of freaked out myself if someone was like directly staring into my face. o__o
Like I'd feel a sense of guilt or something for no reason. xD
But maybe you should start out doing so with the people you feel most comfortable with?
That way, over time, you won't feel as much awkwardness when you do it.

Be cool, you're probably over thinking mini cooper when you do actually make eye contact I'm guessing? Trying to second guess what it is they maybe thinking and such?
