Does this mean rejection...
I called the college counselor and asked what
admit: unconditional wait meant and she sounded sorry for me or something.
oh well.

waitlisted means that you will gain admission if the number of students who accept the college's offer of admission is not enough.

so if the school accepted 5000 freshmen, and they expect that 3000 will actually enroll, but only 2800 actually do, then they go to people on the waiting list and offer them admission.

while waitlisted isnt actually a rejection, you shouldnt expect to get in after. so its wise to look at other colleges that offered you admission.

but if you're really set on this college that you're waitlisted at, send in an updated resume with things you've accomplished AFTER you sent in the application, and they may admit you because you're showing true interest in the school.

good luck!

I would definitely send something expressing your continued interest in the school. Some schools just wait to see the full applicant pool before they go to the waitlists, others will only take you if they under-enroll, or if they feel they could use more of one group of students (people from a particular region or ethnic group, etc.). But good luck because being on the waitlist is brutal and some people wind up waiting through the summer to get a decision.

i got waitlisted at northeastern when i was a senior in high school, and i still got in. it's more or less, if someone decides not to take the seat at the school, it's possibly open to you.
