Giving Homeless People Some "change". Would you help homeless people out?

Many people, when they see homeless people, they would take so much time to consider why is that person homeless, or what will they do with the money, or maybe they might just buy drugs or alcohol with it. Or they're all scandals, they lie for money.
But even if they lie for money, that means they need help. Without hesitation, I try to help every I see. Is that bad?
Overall, what are your opinions and how do you feel and react when you see a homeless person? If you do help them, how much will you give; or what will you give?
Do you stereotype them by how they look and what they will do with the money you give them? (ex. My mom saw this REALLY skinny guy, and he looked so unhealthy. She came to the conclusion that he does drugs, that's why he looks so sick.)

I dont usually give money, I would rather give them food because if they're on the streets then I think thats they most helpful thing you can do because you cant survive without it. Whereas with money you never know what they're going to do with it.
But I dont have anything against people giving money, its up to the individual.

But when i'm in china for vacation i just end up usually giving money because its a big city and i'm usually in a rush to do something. Plus since the currency exchange is higher u.s to yen i end up with a lot of pocket money.
And i feel like a crap person when i don't give them money. Plus they don't get much especially there where there are lots of homeless people, so its always good to give a little extra money because they need other things like clothes, blankets, etc.

If the homeless belong to a poverty stricken community, then yes, I would help.

I'n this case it's not stereotyping it's intuition. Which I think is very important.
I used to help people out, but they're rude.
I'll keep my money to myself. Nobody ever gives me money(except my parents) when I need it. So I'll keep it.

one time when me and my parents were coming out of a restaurant with take home bags or leftovers, this homeless guy saw us and asked us if he could have the food for he and his daughter. we told him that we we'll give it to him, but we already ate some of the food. he said "i don't care. my daughter and i haven't eaten for days."
it was so sad. ;_; we gave him all of our food. that was the first time a homeless person ever asked me for food and not money.
and then there's times where my dad offered to buy a homeless person some food, and they were like "NO I WANT MONEY". like wtf? wow...
