But apparently last year, this girl got a D in AP Calc BC, but she got a 5 on the AP test and she still got into UCLA.

if you are in junior year,
you can't make it up;
it counts for senior year
if you do make it up

If you can make it up, my couselor says to make it up at a community college. <-- AP
If it's core classes, you can make it up during summer school.

if you have even one D,
you cant get accepted into the UCs.
but you might still be able to make it up.
talk to your counselor.
at this point,
she's the best one to help you out.
now is the happy.

one D can so something but if your a great student overall, it shouldnt matter THAT much.
my friend: 4-5 APs, A's and B's all freshman and sophomore year. junior year got ONE F. still got accepted to ucsd / irvine etc.
my sister: Straight A's junior year but two D's sophomore year. got accepted to ucsd/ irvine etc..
so really one D wont affect you but make sure you retake it!

esp since the acceptance rate for colleges are soo low these days
ppl with decent A and B grades are finding it hard to get into college
trust me right now me and my friends are waiting and hearing from colleges
it's been hard. and i'm in all the IB advance classes.

I had a D first quarter in AP BC Calculus, then a C-, and might get a D this quarter.
I'm a junior, so college applications have not started for me.
However, if I do well on the AP exam how will colleges think of me?

and has been totally depressed
because he risks the chance of getting his acceptances taken back
the conditions of getting into a UC are to maintain a 4.0 GPA
but despite this, the schools take D's very seriously
^BC calc is very tough...it's the worst i have ever done in math before T.T
i barely got an A first semester
and currently hold a C+ for the third quarter -.-
but yeah, i would suggest making it up or studying really hard for the AP test
because i think that the colleges would look more towards your AP test grades than your class grades
but at the same time, they'll be hindered at the sight of that D
it's kind of the same as SAT scores and GPA...
if you have a high GPA but a low SAT score, they'll give you a bit of lee-way
but if you have a high SAT score and a low GPA, then they'll think that you just don't want to try hard in school
something like that...but don't take what i just said to heart...
i could be wrong >.<

It's mainly due to the fact that my teacher doesn't know how to teach = Major confusion
And I don't have the magical ability to understand Chemistry easily like everyone else T__T haha
I honestly don't even understand why I'm taking this class anymore so I am going to be SO glad when I go into Anatomy next year xD

I received a D- and below a 3.0 GPA and still did not get my acceptance rescinded to UC Irvine.
What I did was write a letter to the admissions office and explained my situation and how this does not usually happen to me.

but irvine's still considering rescinding his acceptance
which is why he committed to berkeley even though they accepted him for the winter semester (or w/e it was)
