Yeah... i kinda feel like an idiot asking about this. >__<
But, is it too late to take a dance class?

I've been so interested in dancing classes for a long time, but just couldn't afford it.
Now I have the chance to take them and yet I'm already in my late teens.
My friends who are dancers have taken dance classes for years.
And I've been wondering that if I take them, I would be in those classes with little kids.
If that situation happened, I'd just feel so ashamed because I'm pretty old. lol

I really want to dance, not only to shed some pounds but to help me gain confidence.
But the more I think about it and how old I am, I just cower.

So am I too old for this kind of thing?

of course not!
I'm a senior in high school at the moment, and I just started taking classes.
I'm currently in the beginners class to start off, but everybody is my age and older.
I'm taking hip-hop and break dancing.
As for hip-hop, I'm in class with people from ages 16-mid 20's.
Break dancing, I'm in class with some younger kids, and then my age and higher.

The place I go to also has classes for adults, there's people from their late teens - in their 40's. Mostly late 20's-40's.

Just keep looking for places that you feel comfortable at. If you happen to live in SoCal, then I could recommend some places.

I don't think you're too old. (: Everyone's gotta start at some point, right? If you're really passionate about learning how to dance, go for it! If the whole being with younger kids thing is an issue, just go to a gym. I'm pretty sure that some gyms have dance classes.

Hey!
I have to agree with others, it's not too late!
I too am like you... I had always wanted to take dancing classes, but somehow never got around to it.. I only just started maybe 4 weeks now? So I'm very beginner, but I can feel myself improving every class. It's such a great feeling. You get people who have danced for yearsssssss (damn I wish I started earlier) and you get people who are just like you and me - just starting out.

Anyway, good on ya for giving it a go!

it's never too late! you wouldn't be with little kids because there are adult classes smile.gif
and unless your goal is to become a professional dancer... it's not too late. no worries.

It's never too late. A lot of the dancers, as mentioned above, in America's Best Dance Crew didn't even start until college.

Of course not.
I first started when i was 16 last year. Didn't take dance classes per say, but i joined a dance team. There are dance classes for adults, i see people my age and older taking beginning dance classes so no need to worry about that smile.gif

I felt the same as you. I'm 18 and I really wanted to learn how to dance, so I signed up for a beginner Hip-hop class that was for ages 12yrs+ just last month. I was so afraid of being the oldest there, but when I got there, most of the girls were 16~17 and there were adults learning too. I don't regret it at ALL. It's really fun, everybody's really friendly, and I'm really glad I started, since I couldn't dance a lick before and now I'm gaining more confidence while getting a work out. So it's a win-win for me.
