ok, so my professor really didn't teach us anything, so if anyone could help me.

the question is

Our society requires that we adhere to its norms and values. If those values are totally or partially destrctive to the entire society or some of its members, we are still expected to adhere to them. That would mean that anyone who attempted to help those who are harmed by thr value system would be seen as deviants and a threat to the social structure. With this in mind, explain how the process of socialization serves to prevent or obstrucct any activity that has the potiential of enlightening the population by oresenting information that would cause the gerneral poplation to recognize what has gone wrong.

thanks in advance.

BTW he didn't feel like telling us what format to do it in. Never gave us a Syllabus and doesn't even do attendance.

you should discuss the importance of socialization as a process. during this process we do have changes/innovations. when these changes/innovations are observed as more beneficial to society, it'd be passed on & learned as the new norms to replace the old useless ones, if you will. this is the process of revolution too. read & elaborate on concepts of changes/innovation/revolution/process of socialization and revolution.
use example of industrial revolution...

it's a great topic. i like it.

This is a really good topic!

to make it easier though i would try to write from one paradigm's perspective.

so pick either structural functionalism, conflict theory, symbolic interactionisn, or feminism to write your essay from.

There are alot of agents of socialization, whether it be your parents, peers, community, insitution, etc... all play a factor in one's upbringing.

change and innovation were all considered deviant from society hence why it takes a group of people to create a revolution or even war. So i would also choose a side, whether being too deviant to conform is a bad thing or a good thing.

If you want to look more towards strengthening societal norms and values mention something about promoting the culture and tradition. it takes a long time to to make a set of norms and values for a large population.

anyways, this topic is awesome, tons and tons of stuff to talk about!

i'd be guessing around 5 pages minimum double spaced 12 font. lol standard sociological paper to hand in.

like what ^ she said. I personally think structural-functionalism answer really well this question.

yeah, this is a very good question.

well if it's not a final paper to replace an exam or a seminar thesis you shouldn't have to go more than 5.
