so my bro got a genesis coupe v6 mt. according to the dealer it's 1 of 6 mt genesis coupes in the country.

brown leather seats (id prefer black but im indifferent)
bluetooth
heated seats
10 infinity speakers
18 in alloy wheels
lsd and traction control
satellite radio
bridge stone potenza rea something something
6-speed 306hp v6 engine. 311hp with premium (according to dealer)
pretty much fully loaded except without the brembos and sat nav.

my test drive: 2010 hyundai genesis coupe gt package
I drive an rx8, so it's a totally different feeling. I don't know if its a piston engine or v6 thing but i certainly felt that throttle response was slower than mine. When i step on it, it's just not as responsive as my car. Even if i floor it for a second it wont rev as high as my rx8 would. It's also big. I guess it doesnt say much since i drive a small car but it really is roomy. When i first turned on the car, i could definitely tell this car's bigger hp and tq numbers. just by the sound you could tell. a deep low grumble compared to my screamer. The clutch was short but significantly harder than mine and the engagement point was closer to the floor and the range of the clutch was also shorter. Steering was also softer than my rx8, not as raw feeling should i say but still good and responsive. Suspension also seemed softer but not too bad. I also noticed THIS THING CAN HAUL. Full throttle in any gear pushes you into the chairs, which might i say arent as supportive but comfortable and enough to stop too much side to side movement. interior was decent. nothing special but nothing bad either. seemed like it was put together pretty well. i especially liked the center console setup. Engine is a big 3.8L. Trunk isnt big but it is enough for the regular driver. id also have to say the front grill is pretty ugly, but my brother also realizes that and plans to change that first thing. Rims are pretty bleh also but those can also be changed.

In conclusion, i wouldnt say this car was meant to tackle corners on the circuit or anything. its more of a car for the regular driver who just wants to go fast sometimes. but im sure with a few mods here and there it'd definitely be quick on the track.

I <3 the look of the Gen Coupe.. A lot of Car Magazines seem to love it.

Did you notice the 3 sec. limp mode kinda thing after you hit the redline?? if you do, the dealers have a reflash to fix that.. That was the reason why car magazine didn't get a very good 0-60 times.

If you live in the US, that model would be a Grand Touring model. It doesnt have LSD.

On the other hand, 3.8 Track model has track tuned suspension, larger front and rear stabilizer bars, brembo brakes and LSD. Only the track models (both 2.0T and 3.8) have LSD's. None of the other models (base, premium and GT) have LSDs. Then again, there are only a handful of Tracks models here in the US. More are coming over by the day.

I would rather have the 2.0T motors. Easier to work on. Mildly beefy internals that easily support 450hp in stock trim. Not to mention its motor is in the same family as the evo/ eclipse motors.

Good to hear some actual feedback. And seriously these are rare cars. I went with my buddy to a local dealer here in San Jose and the salesman said there was less than a half dozen in the state (or was it just for the v6?) and the 2.0 turbo would not be available until around April. Also the technology package wouldn't be available this year. What the hell??? I don't understand why Hyundai did all this advertising, throw millions into the Superbowl ad, then make it impossible to get one. Perhaps it's a marketing strategy.... mellow.gif
