I love her. Kou is so spunky. She can be a total tomboy, but when she needs to sexy and glamorous, she is there and grabbing everyone's attention.

My favorite drama/pairing is in Orange Days with Tsumabuki Sotoshi. Dororo wasn't all that bad either.
I was really happy when I heard bout those two in real life, which is rare, usually I sob for awhile, until I accept it.
It's too bad that they aren't together anymore, they have really good chemistry on screen. I am sure its off screen too.

Shibasaki finds new love with UVERworld's Takuya?
Thu, December 11, 2008 (1:05am EST)
Singer/actress Kou Shibasaki has found a new boyfriend, says the newest issue of Josei Seven. She was recently spotted with TAKUYA∞, the vocalist of rock band UVERworld, which finally achieved its first #1 single last month with the "Mobile Suit Gundam 00" theme song "Hakanakumo Towa no Kanashi."

According to the magazine, the two were already acquainted, but they met again in the fall at a gathering with their musician friends, and they immediately hit it off. On December 5, Shibasaki attended UVERworld's concert at the Nippon Budokan. In addition, Josei Seven reported that they spent three consecutive nights together on dates. The magazine also published a photo of them at a Christmas illumination event in Roppongi.

Since 2005, Shibasaki had been dating actor Satoshi Tsumabuki, who co-starred with her in the drama series "Orange Days." Many thought they were headed for marriage, but in light of this news, it seems that they have already broken up.

Shibasaki Kou is probably my favourite Japanese actress. I really enjoyed seeing her in Battle Royale , Orange Days, GO and Good Luck.
By the way, Battle Royale is a definite must watch! Even though I dislike horror, this movie is amazing. It was the fist Japanese movie I have ever seen. Back then, I wasn't into Asian cinema and I had no idea how great the cast was. Shibasaki Kou, Chiyaki Kuriyama, Takeshi Kitano, Masanobu Ando, Sosuke Takaoka -all in one movie!!!
You guys should also watch GO. Shibasaki Kou plays the female lead. Her and Yosuke Kubozuka have mind-blowing chemistry in this one. There is lots of skinship, which is quite rare for a Japanese production. It is a really great movie and is one of my all-time favourites.

Kou Shibasaki rocks out for "Otomen"
Thu, July 2, 2009 (3:04am EDT)

Actress Kou Shibasaki is reportedly tackling her first rock tune for the new Fuji TV drama series "Otomen," set to premiere on August 1. She is singing the theme song, titled "Rabaso ~lover soul~."

Shibasaki wrote the lyrics specifically to match the drama, which stars Masaki Okada as a popular high school boy who secretly has very feminine interests, such as shojo manga.

The song is expected to be released as a CD single in September.

Shibasaki splits from Takuya
Thu, January 28, 2010 (5:44am EST)

Actress Kou Shibasaki (28) and UVERworld vocalist TAKUYA∞ (30) have reportedly broken up. Multiple people familiar with the couple say that they drifted apart due to their busy schedules, and they parted ways at the end of last year.

Shibasaki and TAKUYA∞ were first revealed as a couple in December 2008. At the start of 2009, they became busier with their careers, leaving them little time to spend together.

Shibasaki has been busy with film and television roles, as well as preparing for an upcoming singing tour. Meanwhile, UVERworld went on two tours last year and have another one lined up for this spring. The band is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its formation and the 5th anniversary of their major label debut.

"Ooku" cast includes Horikita, Tamaki
Mon, February 15, 2010 (7:20pm EST)

Additional cast members have been revealed for the upcoming live-action film "Ooku," which stars Kou Shibasaki (28) and Arashi's Kazunari Ninomiya (26). Joining them are Maki Horikita (21), Hiroshi Tamaki (30), Sadao Abe (39), and Kanjani8's Tadayoshi Okura (24).

Directed by Fuminori Kaneko, the film is an adaptation of the Fumi Yoshinaga manga of the same name. The story is a historical fiction set during the Edo period, in which a mysterious disease significantly reduces Japan's male population, resulting in women becoming the dominant members of society.

In December, it was revealed that Shibasaki is playing the role of the female shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune, while Ninomiya is playing the part of Mizuno, a young man who joins the ranks of the "ooku" (the "inner chambers"). Horikita has been cast as O-nobu, the childhood friend of Mizuno who harbors feelings for him.

Tamaki, Abe, and Okura will play key members of the ooku. Tamaki's character is Matsushima, a high-ranking member of the elite O-chuurou class. Abe is playing Sugimini coopera, a low-ranking member who has served for many years but has given up on promotion. Okura, who is making his big screen debut in this film, has been cast as Mizuno's rival, the expert swordsman Tsuruoka.

"Ooku" is scheduled for release on October 1.
