I've had that problem when I got Depo shots, they were such a pain in the ass. I had spotting for nearly the whole duration of the shot until I switched to BCP. Even then I still got some spotting on the first package and my period came on the 5th pill of the placebo pills. So what I'm saying is if you hadn't had any intercourse I wouldn't worry too much about it. After 3 months of using the pills you should be on time, but maybe still a bit late on the placebo week. If you still get spotting (sometimes its called BCP period) after those months you might want to switch to another brand, I recommend Alesse or Minovral ... although if you're in the states I'm not sure if you can get Minovral (this one's very good).

Since you've just started being on the pill, it might still be a little wonky. I've only been on it a few months and my period is regular.
I only know about the depo-shot not giving periods or giving more periods.
