i'm in NYC, recently i witnessed a person who nearly got run over by the train.
of course, when the police came, i thought i was doing a good thing by telling the police what i saw. thus, i was put onto the witness list.
they called me once and had a semi little talk about what i saw.
but now, the people from "transit law" (thats what they call themselves) somehow got my number and have been calling me none stop asking to make appointment to talk to me in person. and i really don't want to do that. is there a way to tell them no?
they are seriously starting to get on my last nerves.
please give me some advice lawyers or anyone who knows how to deal with this.

Hello, I think what you did was a great thing, although it brought you to this situation I hope this will not discourage you to do the same thing in the future, besides good deeds will always be rewarded, I am not a lawyer but I think if they are really getting on your nerves, you should file a police report. It can fall under harrassment, since they are in a way disturbing your peace and maybe frightening you already, in the precinct you can seek advise on what to do. But indeed someone has to stop them. Go to the right authority.

I agree to the above response. However, if the transit law are that desperate to talk to you in person, you should bring a lawyer with you or have them attend to your lawyer's office and discuss the case. This will avoid further harassment and your lawyer will know what to do if the transit law are trying to silence you.

this is really annoying. i don't have a lawyer.
i'm contemplating if i should tell them off and just tell them to go fcuk themselves and leave me the heack alone, but is that too rude?
or should i just meet up with them? but the thing is, i dont even know who they are and am kinda scared that they aren't legit. or else why they keep insisting face to fact talk????

I would suggest you go to the police first before you even think about going to meet those people. Personally, i'd just tell em I don't feel comfortable speaking to them. Lol. I don't think they're allowed to talk to witnesses let alone harass them.
Some say i'm a genius, others say i'm crazy
but they all say i'm a little on the weird side

Don't you know the city law of "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil"?
But yeah, just deny speaking to them. You don't want to incur any liability onto yourself.
Also, if any lawyer mentioned advice for you and said they were a lawyer, they would be liable for the results of that.. so I don't think anyone will do so.

i suggest just ignoring the call. until they get to your house. lol
then the appointment is already made =D
but if the appointment is in session.
just state 3 words and thats all
which is.... he saved him. end of story! don't speak anymore.. just say "I don't know" whenever they ask you a question.
the more you tell.. the more they'll bother you.
then you might even have to testify in court. etc.
well there is another option.
just tell them spider man saved him.
i'm sure that'll make them stop bothering you.

They've been calling you repeatedly despite your refusal to interview? What did you say to them? Or do you mean just leaving messages?
It sounds like the cops have passed the case on to a specialised group of investigators. They'd want to talk to you in person to get you on record so that any info you give can be used in legal proceedings. You really need to be clear on what their intentions are and I'd be wary if the interview location is anything other than a pollice station or an official government building.
it's completely reasonable for you to not want to be interviewed, after all they're phoning you unsolicited and asking you to meet with strangers. You can actually just say so without giving a reason, but knowing lawyers, they'll probably be tenacious if they really want your statement.
