Hmm..okay so I'm 14 years old, about 5'2 and 115 pounds..
Grah, I want to reach my goal of losing at least..10 pounds. sad.gif
I've been teased that I was fat and pretty much scarred for my life, even though all my friends told me I was NOT fat and that they'll go beat up that !@#$ afterwards. laugh.gif

But now that I think of it, I think I'd look a lot better by losing some weight..

For the last 3 days, I ate only 1 meal per day and drank endless amounts of water, I exercised my butt off by jogging, powerwalking, and jumproping (usually I do about 600 sets or more per day..)
So far I lost a pound, but I know for sure I'll gain it all back (not to mention that this is really unhealthy)
But heck, I'm so desperate I'll try anything! tears.gif
except for being bulimic(sp?) blink.gif

Can anyone give me some tips? sad.gif

thank you..

Wow... Okay, the eating ONE meal a day; RIDICULOUS.
Something that I'm surprised about is how alot of people have not gotten it into their heads that eating less does not equal healthy/effective weight loss. And you're right, you probably will gain it all back. I am in no way trying to be mean, just realistic. I've just known alot of girls who automatically think less calories = weight loss and the less you weigh = the skinnier you are. Remember, the number on the scale is... well, a number :|

What you need to do is eat healthier and make sure you're eating enough. Your body needs calories to function properly. And it needs energy in general to move. If you don't give your body the nutrients and food it needs, you'll be passing out during exercise, feeling fatigue, etc. Not to mention your body won't be burning any calories if it's not even getting the minimum it needs to work. It's going to focus on your body functions, not helping you workout. Water is good. But endless exercise isn't going to help you much, just tire you out. Especially if you're not eating enough to compensate for physical activity.

You'll need to figure out what exercises are good for you. Even walking for an hour everyday will help. For me, I ride my bike, run, or walk at least three times a week. I do kung fu as well, but on days I don't, I go outside to keep active. Don't feel like you have to go to extremes. Don't overexert yourself feeling like you have to do a thousand crunches a day or run until you can't feel your legs. And may I remind you, muscle weighs more than fat. So you might not be seeing a smaller number on the scale, but you'll definitely be seeing a slimmer body.

And weight loss takes time. That's an important thing you have to know and just accept. It took me a long time just to lose three pounds, but you know what? I did it the right way. And it's been a couple weeks and I haven't gained them back.

So if you want to lose weight in a healthy way, a nutritious, plentiful diet and active exercise and most of all patience are the way to go. I mean, if you're looking for a fast way to lose a couple pounds, by all means do a safe crash diet. But those crash diets won't keep the pounds off if you go back to your normal eating habits.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or something.
I'm not an expert, but I've learned quite alot from different sources and people. I've learned alot of what is the right way and what is wrong way and little tips to keep yourself healthy. And that's probably the most important thing. Just be healthy.

^ good advice
14? You still have baby weight. I think it's great how you want to look better but remember there will be nagative side effects by eating one meal per day. If you keep this up be prepared to face the doctor when they give you a list of all the health problems trust me..i've been through it. Not only that but you gain the weight back twice as fast, I went from 100 to 130 within 2 months.

agreed..

eating one meal a day is unhealthy and it only slows down your metabolism.
if you want to loose that weight not just for a short amount of period but permanantly.. you need to focus on eating healthy rather than what the quickest way to loose that weight is.

also you're 14 years old.. don't over eat, but also don't deprive your body, cause your at an age where your growing! .. gotta eat healthy so you can grow tall and healthy =]
so like they suggested.. keep focus on your health!

you MUST eat in order to lose weight
if your body feels hungry and you ignore then
then even if you eat the smalest amount after that, everything will go to fat cuz your body thinks that it wont be able to get food soon

you SHOULD
eat SMALL means 5~6 times a day
sounds ridiculous
but thats rly going to help you lose weight
smaaalll meals is the key
and nothing fatty or anything

i lost quite a bit of weight just by doing that so ^^

On top of everything else, weight isn't everything. People with low body fat percentages can weigh more but still be really thin. I've been really lazy lately so I've put on a couple of pounds but even though I'm only 5'4 and weight 125ish lbs I'm still only a size 3.

Also, you really shouldn't diet until your 18. Depriving your body of the food it needs when your growing up will slow down your metabolism and make it harder for you to keep your weight down when your older.

If your really intent on loosing weight though, just remember a few things.
ALWAYS eat breakfast, without it your body doesn't start burning calories and you'll end up craving more later in the day.
Switch up your workouts, run one day then do a bit of weight lifting the next. That way you'll build up some muscle mass and muscles burn more calories. Also, your body doesn't get used to the workouts so they don't become less effective over time.
No matter what, take in a bare MINIMUM of 1250 calories a day (and this is when you aren't working out). Your body needs at least this much to just function.
Finally, remember that unless your severly overweight (which you ARE NOT) you shouldn't be loosing more than 2 lbs a week. Give it time.

O_o;; if you think eatin one meal a day, drink lots of water will make you skinny an boost your self esteem, what about those starving children in africa?

geez;;;

1; love yourself and not be negative about it, if you think losing a bit of weight might make you feel better and not what other people say or think, then do it properly

2; you only 14, still abit young to lose weight, why not just cut back on the fat/sweet foods sodas and eat more lean meat and vegetables and fresh fruit

3; 30mins of vigerous exercise is plenty; swimming, running, jogging, even dancing with music burns calories

always remember to eat and exercise regulary; although it it not a fast weightloss but you will keep it off longer then doing some sort of fast/diet pills/replacement shakes or those 'lose 10lb soups'

there is no short cut in weightloss; you are what you eat;

Bad example. Seriously.

Anyway, yeah...it's much better to be healthy and thin than unhealthy and thin. You won't feel miserable and you'll feel extremely accomplished, trust me. Take it from a girl who's tried every diet fad in the book for the last year...

I've been weight training and exercising and eating right for about two months now...I barely shed a pound but I look and feel better and I could eat as much as I want without getting any fatter (unless I overdo it). So do that...exercise, eat lots of fruits and veggies, and most importantly, TRAIN YOUR MUSCLES!

you're only 14! you shouldn't be worrying about loosing weight and trying to look thinner etc
you're at a stage in your life where your body is developing and you NEEEED lots of good food to feed your growing body!!
plus you should be concentrating on education etc rather then getting wrapped up in body issues

just eat well and exercise
please don't limit yourself to just one meal per day
and serious
enjoy life while your young and carefree

worry about your body when you're older!!!

Um, you 14, and 115 lbs? THATS ALREADY SKINNY.
if you lose anymore weight, you'll only be skin & bones. thats NOT healthy.

You're already perfect, just learn to love yourself. At age 14, you still have baby fat. Walk half an hour a day. You'll lose it by 15.
This topic kinda p*sses me off, lol. I mean You want to lose weight cause you weigh 115??
I weigh 130. NOBODY calls me fat.
They only call you fat because you have low self esteem. Then it'll just make you look fat.
Trust me. i weigh 130, and I'm 13. I love myself, and so do others. Lol. =.=;

Wow, like everyone said. DONT SKIP MEALS. that will only make your metabolism SLOW down since you'd be starving your body (it'll retain the fat).

Basically, in order to loose 1 pound in 1 week (7 days), you need to cut back 250 cals each day and burn up 250 cals by exercising. As for meals, try eat 5 small meals (HEALTHY... try eating foods that will fill you up like protein, veggies, etc) and drink PLENTY of water.

I also heard that bananas are really good for running (if your legs ache or whatnot)... and well, so is water so lol. Drink lots of it! Water will make exercising so much easier.

I understand the wanting to like, slim down or tone your body (which is what I'm doing)
but really, losing weight just to see a smaller number on the scale is, once again, RIDICULOUS.
Like alot of people said, you're already at a pretty healthy weight, especially for your age.

I'm 16 and my parents are still concerned I'm not eating enough. Though I'm pretty sure at this point I'm not growing much anymore. I lost my baby fat by the time I was 15. Gettin' old... >__> lol anyways, seriously, the most important thing is being healthy, and body fat percentage. That's what really tells you if you need to lose weight.

You can do a body fat percentage check online actually. I'm not exactly sure how accurate they are, but it's the next best thing if you can't check at a doctor's office.

14? Hey, high five~ I'm 14 too! laugh.gif
But, WOW... I didn't realize SOOOOO many people saying that you're a bit too young to do
your diet! I'm 106.9 and I want to lose until 105 or maybe lower...

But the strange thing is, all of my friends are like, skinny and slim and they wear tight
clothes while my face is a slight chubby and a bulging stomach unsure.gif
Seriously, I wanna be like them. They are SOOOO pretty and skinny~ I SOOO envy them...

The less you eat, the more weight you gain. Your metabolism will slow down drastically and anything you eat will be turned into fat to be stored away.

At 14, I don't think you should be trying to lose weight. Instead, you should be trying to eat healthy and gaining a bit. At the age of 16 - 18, you'll be growing taller and get skinnier naturally. If your body doesn't have enough nutrients, you'll stay stubby.

Please don't be stupid.

I'm not going to criticize you for wanting to lose weight since I'm only a year older than you are, and I've tried starving myself in seventh grade (ridiculous, I know!)

Anyway, from personal experience and a few friends' also, starving yourself - or eating one meal a day- won't help.
You need the nutrients from your food to stay healthy, and most of all, it will keep your metabolism up, and even certain foods will boost it.
Whoever told you you were fat, do NOT believe them, you have a perfectly healthy BMI. Trust me! (:

How about try toning your body up more. Keep exercising, and just eat healthy. Measure by using a tape measure and inches/centimeters, not by pounds.
It's really not about how much you weigh. It's about how you look and feel.
