Share how you find interesting/good books to read. I just randomly pick off the shelf or go by recommendations.

Well we have our very own library at home (exaggerating much) but we have a ton of books my ma received from this book club she joined. Mostly of Dean Koontz and James Patterson..so I just take one and read the description on the back and decide if I'll read it or not.
I haven't been reading much due to other interests (such as the computer). I'm going to get back into the habit before I'm forever doomed.

Well, back when I consistently had time to read for pleasure (or consistently made the time, anyway) I used to just go to the library and browse, read the insides of book jackets until I found books that seemed promising, then read the first page or so to see if still so far, so good. If it still seemed promising then I'd check the book out and read it. Sometimes I'd go off a recommendation from a friend or classmate, then when I got much busier near the end of high school I mostly just leeched off my brother's and mother's books, even though my younger brother's tastes in books is not very much like mine.
Hey, look! Finally a different signature after all these years!

Recommendations from other people. Before I would go to Barnes&Nobles, Half Price, or Borders quite often and just browse through the shelf for anything interesting and buy it. I don't read as much these days due to busy school work, tv, and of course the computer. haha.

I get titles mostly from the book catalogs we get, manga/manhwa titles from others, or manga websites, and there are always recs on our county library website. There's also a thread here at soompi you might check:

Usually I would go to my local library and browse the bookshelves from A to Z. If a title catches my eye, I take it out and read the back/inside cover.

Then there's the local library bookstore which I visit once a week and I browse thru their selections since prices are very cheap, especially if one wants to try out a new author. Not to mention being able to find hard to find/out of print novels.

And finally, browsing threads, especially threads that posts the cover of the book and a summary/back cover of the novel.

I lot of times I just wonder around a book store and randomly pick up titles. I open the book to a random page and if it holds my attention for a few pages then I go with that one. Or lately I have been looking at the "what other purchased" section on amazon
I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it's the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It's probably the most important thing in a person.

In my circle of friends, there's only one other bookworm besides myself so I get recommendations from her. Sometimes I'd visit the Amazon member lists and find a few interesting things. And when I have time, I head out to the bookstores to explore. xD

I usually read classics and older books so I go by other people's reviews and recommendations. Also, when I watch movies based on books, I try to pick up the book to read it and compare it with the movie. Sometimes I go to the awards section for the children's books and pick up something from there. My most memorable purchases are usually from that section of the bookstore.

I usually go on Barnes and Noble and look up some new books that are out.
I ask my teacher or my friends.
Also, I look up different works by my favorite authors, or just when I like a certain author's style :]

I usually go by recommendations. But lately, I've been checking bestsellers lists and reading the synopsis of each book to see which look interesting. laugh.gif

I read other peoples' recommendations. But most of the time, I just browse through the titles. I usually look at the bestseller's list first, and try to see if something's interesting. I read the back cover to see if the story's okay and stuff.

Mostly from recommendation of friends, but usually from what was adapted into movies.

I read reviews of books on Amazon. I work at the public library so I browse the best sellers list and read synopsis of the newest books released. I browse the display tables at the Barnes and Nobles. That's about it.

Same here. I always find myself using Amazon's reviews and recommendations. Without them I'd be wasting money at Barnes & Nobles on things that I probably wouldn't read or wouldn't enjoy reading..
