I am graduating by the end of this spring semester and am going to move on to community college. However, I am afraid that I will be placed in ESL class because my English is not very good. I have talked about my situation with my counselor and my counselor asked me if I want to stay an extra year at my high school. I don’t know what to do.

Staying an extra years in high school seems to be wasting my time if there are no improvements,
but if I move on to community college, I might probably placed in ESL class without receiving credit, while paying for my non-credit courses.
[it depends on the placement test. Well... im not that kind of person who study everyday, lol]

In my high school, I go to class everyday so I learn more of English, but if I go on to community college, I feel that there will be less approach to English and less support.

What should I do????????????

i think most colleges require those placement tests, if you pass the writing and reading test (they are easy), you can take college level English, or they do have lower level classes for u to take (but is not ESL, and yes, no credit since it's not a college level class), they just help u to improve your English level and they are very helpful
Honestly, I would graduate form HS first, colleges have writing/reading centers that offers help to students...

If you are staying in high school for another year because of that, I don't think it's worth your time. Even if you are taking ESL, at least you get to take other classes to fulfill other requirements, like GE or major. But... like Cystals said, most college (if not all) should have placement tests so if you do well on those, you'll be placed in regular English. But I agree, I would rather graduate highschool first and then go to community college - it's much more beneficial.

Rule of thumb: Never listen to your counselor. Hahaha (just kidding... sort of).

I think staying another year in high school just because of ESL really is a waste of time.
From I see, you're writing doesn't seem that bad.
The english test is mostly reading and seeing if you understand the reading and some simple vocabulary. It's easy. Take the placement test first. Who knows, you might be placed in English108A :]

I think you already know what you should do.
You said you will learn more English in high school than in community college. That's your answer.
I don't know if its different from where you live than from where I live, but here we can take college courses (either AP or a few actual college classes in university/community college) so maybe you can repeat high school AND attend college classes? Just choose the right classes.

However, from reading your post, your writing isn't bad... I don't know why you feel like you still need to take more ESL
