i'm pro life so i don't like planned parenthood.
they do some illegal stuff like suggesting to minors where to go for abortions b/c it's illegal in the state for that certain age range. that disturbs me.
in some cases, they're supposed to report rape, but they just act like they didn't hear anything and refuse to listen to the details
abortions for young people can really traumatize them later in life.

i am a huuuuge advocator of places like planned parenthood. PRO FOR SUURE DSLFJKDFLZZ!!
they promote safe sex and offer teens a safe place to go if something goes wrong, such as becoming pregnant or contracting an std.
teens can get cheap to free birth control or std/pregnancy tests, which allows them to protect themselves more.

this group should definitely NOT be disbanded, it will cause so so many problems. accessible birth control is a good thing!
it does not promote sex, contrary to what many opposers think. if a person wants to have sex, they will have sex. just because birth control and abortions are readily available will not cause someone who normally wouldn't have sex to have it. just because you have access to a gun, are you going to use it? i think not.

getting rid of bc/abortions for minors/general public would be a horrible HORRIBLE thing to do. back when abortion was illegal, chaos broke loose. there were back alley abortions where the tools were unsanitary or even untrained people did the abortion procedure. girls and women tried to abort the baby by themselves beause there was no way to do it anywhere legally; many died this way.

so would you rather have a young teen who's not ready to be a mother physically, emotionally and financially to have a baby? wouldn't having a child "traumatize" a young girl more later on in life? the burden of having a child lasts an entire life, it will affect their future in every aspect. so many teen mothers drop out of school and cannot pursue a higher education because of that child.

i think it's so wrong to force any one to have a child they are not ready for. it's their body, mind your own business and let them do what they want.
maybe they shouldn't be having sex in the first place, but they did, so why would you furthur the problem by making them ruin their lives?
maybe it is their mistake and they should have to deal with the consequences, but by placing a child in the hands of an unready mother does no one any good, not the mother nor the child. this also hurts the economy because they will be on welfare, etc, eating up tax payer money.

as for "they just act like they didn't hear anything and refuse to listen to the details", what is your evidence for this?

everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but when someone else's future and health are involved, i think each individual person should be able to decide. if you don't like abortions and birth control and places like planned parenthood, GREAT! just don't have one, don't use any, and don't go! it's that simple. no one should be able to dictate to you what you can or cannot do when so much is a stake and when it is such a personal issue.

but to answer all your questions..

~What are the political views of this group? liberal i guess
~How are they politically active? dunno o_o
~How is this group viewed by the American society? 50/50. there is always some proposition to close these places and the vote is always almost dead even.
~What does it take to become a member of this group? What are the benefits of doing so? ..what? lol. i don't think this is as applicable to this topic?
~Should tis group disbanded? If so, why? discussed above.

i could go on forever about this issue because i feel so strongly about it, but i'm just gonna stop because i think i already wrote too much :x
hope this helped in some way lol.

Now as a "pro-life" liberal, my views on Planned Parenthood are complicated at best. Haha... So to answer your questions.

PRO or CON?

~What are the political views of this group?
~How are they politically active?
~How is this group viewed by the American society?
~What does it take to become a member of this group? What are the benefits of doing so?

Mm... overall I'd say against, however I do have many points I admire about Planned Parenthood.

1) I view them obviously as a remnant of the 60's and 70's pro-choice movement, but they have evolved. I am opposed to what they do as an abortion clinic, however that is too narrowly looking at their services. They offer STD checks, contraceptive distributions, and even ovarian, breast, and cervical cancer checks. These are all vital for health, and as a proponent of universal health care, I find clinics who do this for a low (or no) cost to at risk women an important thing. However, I am against their abortion counselling and abortion services.

2) They obviously try to push for taking off the restrictions on abortions today. At the same time they also try to push for better contraceptive education, contraceptive distribution, and STD checks.

3) I'd say they're demonized by the political "right", and glorified by the political "left", both in my opinion are not fully accurate descriptions.

4) I would have no idea.

5) No. Abortion (for better or for worse; I believe for worse, but I digress) is legal in this country, furthermore, Planned Parenthood offers legal services (of questionable ethics in my opinion), but also very key health care services that would not be avaliable to many at-risk women. Also they get a huge amount of government funding.

Also if I may add, I am against Planned Parenthood because they do abortions, but it is important to note (I'll find the exact number later), that only between 3-5 percent of their services are even abortions. So 95-97 percent of their services go elsewhere. While I believe that no abortion is a good abortion, I also believe that Planned Parenthood does great things for an American society desperately in need of health care reform particularly geared towards at-risk women.

Hope this helps... Sorry for throwing in my opinion way too much =P

people make mistakes, but i think a life is worth more than everything else. not ready? seek help. there are options like adoption, etc. i'm grateful for my life. i'm glad i wasn't aborted. i know people who kept their child, and they love their child so much. even though it's harder for them, they think the life they have given is worth it.

if they abort once, they'll just have more sex and abort over and over again. is that better? people learn from consequences, but if they escape it once, they'll just repeat. there are people that want to adopt.

as for the part that you want evidence, there's a video about it: youtube vid

that's just my opinion as a pro-life person. i'd rather give a baby a chance to live. who knows, maybe that baby will grow up to be the next einstein, president, or w/e and help us much more. i'm just inputting my view. i'm not trying to dictate. i just wanted to state my view as a person in the American society.
