What are some exercises that can increase your upper body strength?
Well I'm tryin to learn how to bboy, and I've done poppin before, but that's not much upper body strength required lol.

Apparently what my friend said you need some upper body strength, so I was wondering if there are any exercises that I should do. I've been doing Push ups, and that's about it...

thanks.

I never did learn breakdancing long enough to do know about this, but I would say that breakdancing takes more endurance and stamina.
I'd understand some of the power moves would require some strength but nothing insane.

Also working out, it takes a long time to build muscle.

Anyways to answer your question, I'd suggest you focus on chest (pectorals), arms (triceps and biceps), and shoulders (deltoids). The back might help too but i'm not sure.

I'd suggest going to a gym or something for this, but that might not be available.

Push ups are a good start. Pull up or chin up whichever one where your palms face towards you for biceps. Triceps make a triangle with your hands and do a push up.

thanks for that

Well thing is, I'm not exactly skinny. I'm more to the above average weight, but not too fat.
so my friend said, the more heavier you are, basically the stronger you need to be, so yeah, i think I need to do some workout.

And yes I can't go to a gym, for some reason, lol.

Mind explaining a little bit more on this one? or maybe a picture?

Check out bboy.org/forum. They have tons of questions similar like this one there and to answer your question, I think I remember reading one guy's post there about working out and bboying. If I can recall, he said that he gave up working out because not only did it took up too much of his time, it also wore him out physically to bboy. Besides bboying is an exercise itself so the more you do, the more muscles and strength you'll receive.

Sorry if my answer isn't quite correct. I haven't bboyed that long either so I'm pretty much a beginner at best. (Toprock and footwork.)

bboying has alot of gymnastics so try doing some of those exercises. http://www.dragondoor.com/articler/mode3/229/ has some excellent stances that will help with balance and power. check out bboy.org like happiisunshin said. great forum to learn new things. start by learning the turtle freeze and your foundation steps and keep at it

These are all pretty good works out. To get the best results you should trick your body with different exercises. This is actually part of my training and fitness schedule. Some people seem to think that working out = bench press and only bench press. You see guys with massive chests, skinny arms and no back lol...

Chest - Bench press, decline bench press, incline bench press, and peck deck.
Back – Seated row, lat pull downs.
Shoulders – Dumbbell shrugs, military press, dumbbell flies.
Biceps – Dumbbell curls, reverse dumbbell curls.
Triceps – Tricep extension using cable, Tricep extension using dumbbell or barbell, bench press.

I think to BBoy you actually need to work out every part part of your upper body and not just your chest. Good luck bro.
