SMAP member Takuya Kimura has picked up his next starring role in a television drama. He will play the lead in TBS's comedy/mystery series "MR.BRAIN," scheduled to start in mid-spring.

Kimura plays the part of Ryusuke Tsukumo, a neuroscience researcher affiliated with a National Police Agency laboratory. Although his skills help solve difficult cases, he has one flaw: he is generally "clueless to the situation" (better known by the slang term "KY," or "kuuki o yomenai"), leading to various comical interactions. In general, each episode will be a different case.

Kimura's assistant will be played by Haruka Ayase, while Hiro Mizushima will take on the role of a young cop. Other characters include the head of the lab (Mao Daichi), another detective (Teruyuki Kagawa), and a couple of researchers (Yuji Tanaka of Bakusho Mondai and Tortoise Matsumoto of Ulfuls).

TBS plans to broadcast the drama in its Saturday 7:56pm time slot, which will be occupied by "God Hand Teru" starting April 11. "MR.BRAIN" will begin on May 23.

KimuTaku! I've be awaiting a new jdrama and KimuTaku never fails when it comes to quality acting and smashing looks. smile.gif

Will definitely watch because of Takuya Kimura!!! So cool that Haruka Ayase and Hiro Mizushima are also in it~

Another Kimura drama! Will be definitely adding this to my anticipated drama for the summer. I kinda wanna see a serious and heavy drama from him after seeing him in karei naru ichizoku.. but I guess a light-hearted and comedy one would be just as fun to watch.

Man, I'm so pumped. It's yet another version of the detective drama, but IDK, I'm such a sucker for that kind of drama. Also, the cast is good.

Kimura, not the biggest fan of him, but I don't mind watching him either.

Kimura's kinda funny on SMAP x SMAP so I think this will be interesting. ^__^

interesting cast... for some reason I never imagined seeing all of them working together. hopefully it goes well. I mean... how could it not, but yeah. haha (: fighting to all!

^hahaha i know..i wished he had a clean cut look..but since it's a comedy i feel like he is channeling his "hero" character...but does he really need to have a long messy hair..he can have a messy short hair cut..

Ohmy. What happend to his hair? It's so messy and it's looks like how he use to look like in his idol dramas back in the nineties. He looks better with short hair.

I am getting sick of detective/mystery dramas. But the cast is good, so it might be worth watching.
