Language In High School? Spanish II or French I?

but they want us to have our language selective and such filled out now.
Well, I got into Spanish II, but I think that French sounds really nice.
However, I'm wondering if colleges looked at the language (probably yes),
and I wanted to know your opinion on my situation.

spanish (from what i heard) is easier than french.
i can't confirm this b/c i never took french
but spanish tends to have words more similar to english than does french.
the key is maintaining good grades, in pretty high level classes.
if you don't follow my logic, i'll elaborate haha.

it was either spanish 2 I or chinese 1
but since i've learned spanish for 3 years, why waste it and learn a different language?
so i've decided to continue learning spanish.
i don't regret it. besides, if you hate spanish then you can always switch junior year.
my counselor said that colleges want students to take at least 2 years (consistently) of the same language.

from some help at french from my friends, basically they're similar.
i think you should do a pro and con list.
whichever works in the end.
i took spanish I this year. it's just whatever, but a lot of stuff to remember, but doesn't that go to every foreign language?
i don't think you should always do what would look good on your transcript, but something that suits your taste
and something you would dedicate your time to.

Some French words that are similar in English:
amusante, sympathique, scientifique, histoire, regarder, confus, téléphoner, blasphème, cinéma, théâtre, hôtel, système, animaux, adorer, minutes, inviter, attendre, bicyclette, problème, centre, admirer, aider, inscription, finalement, anniversaire, décider, voyage, cousin, absolutement, général, famille, professeur, musique, garage, café, restaurant, cuisine, extraordinaire, comédie, musée, intéressant, pique-nique, rester, content, dîner, occasion, etc etc (heck I think et cetera is French too btw)
So yeah, a LOT of words are from French. Haha. But whatever you want to take is fine (:

Well, my average in my Spanish class was really high,
so they placed me into Spanish II. But that's a really good idea (Pros&Cons)
Thank you everyone for your replies (:
I really appreciate it greatly.

If not, try French.
I take french
It's pretty easy, actually.
But Spanish would be more useful in the long run.

A college isn't going to pick an applicant over you because he/she took a higher language course.
the most important thing is your grade in the class.
Personally, I would take French because it seems like a way cooler language. france is like the capital of delicious food, romance, and hot european guys! 2 years of spanish in middle school was so boring.

It's not anymore harder than Spanish is. People just get intimidated by the oh so Euro pronunciation, but it's not bad. Same format with conjugating verbs and such.. Plus it sounds pretty~
Just choose the one you're more interested in.

But I think it's better to stick with something you already sort of know?
High school is 5x difficult and time-consuming than middle school LOL. I'll tell you that.
(Unless your middle school has a higher standard of learning)
Besides, if you decide to stop taking Spanish after Spanish 4, you're pretty much DONE with it.
And you'll have an extra slot in your classes for senior year~ xP

Spanish was hands down more easy for me though, but I took Spanish after... around 6 years of Canadian French (which I flunked my way through, unfortunately

I'm taking French 1 right now (i'm a freshmen btw).
I took Spanish in middle school.
Both have it's pros and cons.
Grammar-wise, spanish is easier.
but it really depends on your opinion.

but I'd stick with spanish since you're gonna be in level 2 so that means one less year of language to take in high school =D
and you might get confused if you switch to french.
they're both latin based languages so there are SOME similarities.

Just a matter of preference. You should partially decide on which language you take depending on the French and Spanish teachers at your school as well. French may be an uber cool and pretty language but if you have a crap-ass French teacher at your school, then you are doomed.
So yeah, just take that into consideration. If you have good teachers for both languages then, doesn't matter! But if you have already taken Spanish 1 year in middle school, and you decide to take Spanish for another 4 years for high school, then you'll have 5 years of language under your belt. (Like I will when I get into Spanish 5/AP Spanish next year.
But if you want to learn French because you're interested in it, then by all means go for it.

considering i live on the other side in NY.
anyway, yeah, spanish 8 is the last, and after that it's AP Spanish.
which i plan on not taking.
