Hi guys!
Please help me! Would you mind giving me some advice or tips to my work out plan? Lately I've been excercising regularly , actually I've been working out for quite awhile now, but it seems like my body is still the same shape (pear shape) and I still maintain my same weight. Is it because I'm on a plateau? Or is it because I'm not working myself hard enough in order to loose fat or weight( I still ahve love handles, I still have a chubbier lower body)? Is it because of my eating habits? I don't really understand why nothing is happening to my body. huh.gif Can anyone give me any advice? Please and thanks smile.gif

So here's what I do when I excercise, I excercise about 3-4 times a week. Usually 3.
1)Running or swimming for 30 minutes
2) Crunches, side crunches, lunges, weights, stretching for about another half an hour.

^^ Do you think that's enough? Or should I do something more than just running and swimming? What am i doing wrong?

Thanks ladies and gents smile.gif I look forward to your reply and your constructive criticism smile.gif

hmmm it might because your body's metabolism is already on an accelerated basis along with your normal meal plan, so i would suggest that you diet also

Hmm...

From your description and work out plan it seems you're mainly trying to lose weight around you stomach area. I'd suggest you up the time of your jog and swims and closely monitor your diet. When I say diet people tend to think "Don't eat at all for the next 3 weeks," I just mean watch your daily calorie intake and just keep it at a minimal intake.

May I ask how long you've been on this fitness plan?

1 hour of exercise isn't going to do it to lose weight. i read in a magazine that you need to exercise a certain number of minutes in order to lose weight. i think that you are exercising enough to only maintain your weight.

stretching alone should take 30-45 minutes. i mean when you take dance classes the first half hour of the class is stretching/warm up alone.

i can only imagine,,,

You won't lose weight that way if you are not eating the right nutrition your body needs.

Keep a food diary and check what you have been eating. More veg, fruit, grains and lean protein. Cut out all processed foods and drinks.

Hmm.

As said above try to cut out processed foods and eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. Also drink lots and lots of water.

How about doing cardio which will burn lots of fat, such as the cross trainer, treadmill, rowing, exercise bike. And try some aerobic classes. Spinning is supposed to be extremely good for getting rid of fat as it's a very intense workout which will make you feel like you're going to die by the end of it lol, but it works!

This is not correct. One hour is a long time to be exercising. The amount of time you put into an exercise depends on the type of exercise you are doing. I've lost 2lb each week for a month straight by running about 5-8 minutes a day (2 minute stretch).

More important than your exercise is your diet. You can run for half an hour straight and burn roughly 400-500 calories, but that can all disappear by eating one big mac.

Look to see what you are eating because that's probably the culprit. Go to calorie-count.com and log everything you eat and see how much you are really eating.

Hey there! Thanks for replying smile.gif. You are right, I just realized everything I do is focused around my stomach area. I'm going to try other things next time. I have a question actually, how long should I run or swim for? 40 minutes??

Thanks smile.gif

^ 45 mins of running should be able to burn about 500 calories.

30 mins only burn 300-350 calories.
that's what my elliptical says >.<

Thanks smile.gif

I usually go treadmill, and I think my body got use to me running on a treadmill for awhile. I was thinking another day maybe I wasn't running fast enough that's why nothing is happening to my body. But like you said, i'm going to try spinning. Spinning is basically excercising on a bike with different speeds?

Hey guys! Once again thanks for replying, your comments did help me rethink about my work out plan and my eating habits. I realize now that my eating habits havcent exactly change for awhile. I always eat my mom's cooking and realize I over intake carbs most of the time. I guess i thought I would "burn it off" when i run :/

SO right now, taken from your advice

I'm going to
- monitor my eating habits
- balance out my nutritional diet
- try spinning
- stretch a little more (warm up)
- Run/swim longer and time myself.
- keep a food diary

Heavy emphasis on the diet. You'll hear this a lot if you research more but the diet is 80-85% of the weight loss and exercise is the remainder. That's how important the diet is. You can run hours straight and you may not lose anything because your diet is bad.

When I started to lose weight, I measured how many calories I was eating per meal. I used to eat a full bowl and a half of rice and that alone was over 600 calories. I ate this 3 times a day. That meant I was eating 1800 calories of just rice each day. No wonder I was overweight! If you add in side dishes, I was probably hitting over 3k calories a day. I was doing hard manual labor for over 10 hours a day and lost 0 weight. Even with working hard for 10 hours (constant lifting for roughly 10 hours), I did not lose a pound because of my poor diet.

i learned it the hard way that diet like everyone said is the key!

i worked out for quite a while too without effective results. then i started reducing carbs intake and eating more fruits and vegetables...or i attempt to lol and eat smaller meals but more frequently throughout the day. Also doing lots of cardios (at least 45 min) and abs exercises to build up more muscles to speed up metabolism and it also helps losing fat. after adjusting my dieting habits, i FINALLY started to lose weight...at about 1-2 lbs/week which is about the right/healthy amount of weight to be lost with exercising and dieting combined.

but yea u gotta watch what u eat. it takes a lot of effort for sure but its worth it! Good luck!

it's probably your diet if you're not seeing any improvement. eat when you're hungry, eat right, stop when you're full. adding a little more intensity to your workout wouldn't hurt either?

Oh I forgot, but one of the biggest things that might help everyone lose weight is eat to feel OK. Don't eat till you are full or bloated. If you do, chances are you ate way too much. If you eat to feel OK, you are probably eating a good amount to lose weight.

Hey guys! Thanks for replying, I really have to be aware of my daily food intake. I feel like Ive been eating a little more than usual since I worked out weekly. I guess that's why I'm not loosing weight or fat lol. And like lulybony said, I think it is my carb intake thats stopping my body from loosing weight. I love carbs and I pretty much eat carbs every single meal and I often forget to eat vegetables or fruits.

Thanks guys! Hope everything willl work out smile.gif

More important than your carb intake is your calorie intake. Just fyi, I eat a crapload of crabs (rice every meal and what not), but I still lose weight. That's because I eat a certain amount of calories a day and I burn more than I eat. You still need some carbs if you really want to work out hard.

jogging burns more fat > the wii fit said it
running developes muscles > what i think
swimming is good for the heart and lungs 'good for people who have asthma' > everyone knows that

you have to watch your intake;; eat abit less, but not too less,, the brain thinks 'why im not gettin enough food and turns it self to stavation mode which stores all your food and turn into fat'
so you gradually eat less and less over a long period of time,,, its to 'shrink your stomach' once said by my aunty

lol what?
One hour is plenty of time, many people lose weight in half that amount and even less.
And I don't know what dance classes you take, but in my ballet classes I don't think we have ever stretched for 30 minutes.
