hmmmm..I'm planning to get an unlocked iphone 3g 16GB on eBay for roughly around $350. Iono if this is a good ide because I want to use the iPhone as an Ipod too. also, it's really convenient b/c i can use it as a pocket pc if there is wifi since i won't buy the att data plan....anyone who is in the same situation where u use unlocked iphone? is the data plan necessary? is this a good idea..or should i just get an ipod touch? and i heard the new iphone is coming out soon? ...oh and how much would it cost to unlock an iphone? b/c unlocked iphone and non-unlocked one are vastly different in price on ebay

If you just sometimes want to use internet if its available you don't need data.
It's too expensive.

You can buy the 32gb itouch for the same price on ebay as that phone. I suggest you go with
the touch since you want to use it as an ipod and you probably won't get data right?

The new iphone3gS just came out in june this year. There's no new one anytime soon. Apple releases a new version of the iphone every year in june. So not until next june.

Wifi and cable are the two ways I use to transfer and connect.

eBay isn't always the best way to go...try Craigslist and see if you can find any around your area (make sure to meet up at a local cafe or somewhere crowded). $350 is a little too steep...when you can get one around $300 for a 16GB. Also, you aren't REQUIRED to get a data plan. If you have another AT&T phone laying around, just swap your sim card and call CS and tell them you aren't using an iPhone anymore and want to cancel the data plan.

last thing, you don't need to 'Unlock' since you are using AT&T...all you need to do is Jailbreak
search redsn0w on google and you can find how to do it OR youtube redsn0w
i think iPod touch is useless when you have a GSM carrier...one less thing to carry

also if you need help with jailbreaking, let me know...i've been jailbreaking and unlocking for a part time job

Dont forrget, starting September 6th, AT&T is requiring anyone who has a smartphone (Iphone included) to have a data plan.

Oh and some news. For those of you who knows about google voice, they had an app planned for the app store, but apple killed it. A little while after the FCC made an inquiry, not primarily about the reason behind the killing of the G.Voice app, but to examine the legality of the Iphone being AT&T exclusive.

Pretty much all you have to is disassemble an old dvd player take the lens from the laser and put it into a small piece of cardboard and affix it to your camera.

I haven't tried it out, namely because i don't have a spare or old dvd player to harvest parts from. But it seems interesting.

^..iphone/ipod exploded? i have never encounter such problem with my iphone.I usually keep mine in my bag for something.I would never leave my iphone somewhere where there's heat or under the sun..pretty dangerous.I like everything about my iphone except the battery life.. but i'm enjoying in so far.

so i got an iphone 3Gs about 2 months ago, and i have recently dropped it on the cement ground because i was a complete idiot >< there was a bee flying around me and trying to wack it away, my phone slipped out of my hand. and now there is like a row on my phone where it doesn't respond at all. when im texting, i go landscape, my n's and d's doesn't work. i don't know what to do >< i went to Fido and they told me to call apple, then the same guy told me to call customer service and to ask them.... im confused.... i don't know what to do, does anyone have any advice?

^you book an appointment at the genius bar apple store and you explain to them what happened (or lie). they will take care of th e rest. it's on apple's website. if you don't know how to do that you can walk into an apple store and ask someone how to book an appointment.

OMG I AM SO FREAKIN FRUSTRATED!
So basically, my laptop crashed due to a corruption and I just rebooted it last night so EVERYTHING was wiped out. It's like getting a whole new computer all over again T___________T Now, I have an iphone and I just downloaded iTunes but I don't have the option to moving my music back into iTunes D:
