Alright, so whenever i log into my name on my dell computer, it comes to the desktop screen, nothing loading. then automatically it logs me off all a sudden. i think i have a virus or spyware or some sort. I just scanned my computer before it did this with AVG. It detected 24 viruses/spyware, but only deleted 23 of those. So i restarted the computer as AVG told me to do so. And then now when i log in, it automatically logs me off.

I'm trying to figure out how to restore/reboot the whole entire computer. Please and thank you.

Side Note: I've googled it up on my dad's laptop how to restore your dell system, but it keeps telling me to go to start button, when i can't because it automatically logs me off once i've logged in already. Is there a way to restore the whole entire thing without using the start > run buttons? thanks.

You probably need the recovery disks, if not does your computer offer you any system recovery options as it boots up? I never had a dell before, but I think most of those can give you an option to recover right before windows starts loading.

Alternatively, try to start in safe mode.. as windows starts reset the computer (you know when its loading and says windows xp is loading with the scrolling bar) if you interrupt it, it will ask if you want to start in safe mode the next time you start.

Also... most likely AVG tried to clean out the files, and probably did it too brutally and took out some important files which were probably corrupted/infected.

Haha.

If your dell is fairly old then you may have to contact dell and ask for the recovery discs. I did this recently for my work computer and they shipped it for free. Came really fast too. If it's a newer one or if it has the system recovery option in it then I believe you push like shift f8 or something I forget. Check Dell's website. They tell you what to do.

You don't even need to call them. You can chat with them online and ask them to send you the discs if you don't have a system recovery option. http://support.dell.com/support/index.aspx?~ck=pn
