So yeah, as the topic states, every time I use avocado, it always turns brown after a while because of oxidation. Is there any secret to stopping this? I would very much like to enjoy my guacamole for more than a day smile.gif Thanks in advance for your advice wink.gif

Lemon juice helps prevent avocado and other fruit (apples) from turning brown. Just a light coat will do smile.gif

Yep, as said above, lemon juice. Leaving the avocado seed in the guacamole helps as well.

lemon? never knew that.
anyways.
why not scoop a whole lot of it so you finish it fast.
besides, the expiration date is due a week after it's open.

It's weird but my grandma and mom puts it inside the uncooked rice container thing.
o_O; I don't really know what it does. but it makes it softer/ripe faster.

Sometimes wrapping it inside aluminum foil seems to help it out.

I find that adding lemon makes the avocado taste kinda funny afterwards. Maybe I'm putting too much or something.

But the unripped avacado into a brown paper bag. It'll be ripped without a couple of days depending on how close to ripping it is. The paper bag will keep the natural Co2 inside thus helping the avacado get softer.

Lemon juice or any citric acid will keep it from oxidation. And yea, keeping the bit in the dip helps also. I always thought Lemon/lime was a key ingredient i gucamole..

I was just watching a cooking show yesterday and the chef said that u can prevent fruits and such from going brown by mixing some vitamin C powder with water and brushing it over the fruit.
