In my case, I have dealt with the cons of technology and their inability to express emotion, tone and etiquette, so to prevent being misunderstood, I try my best to use the right words and practice good etiquette.
It'd be better if I studied linguistics but too lazy.

I think a lot of those people will be rude online--or off. Either some people were never taught how to behave--or it was drilled into their heads so much that they got sick of it--and just went the opposite way.

By further removing us from the things we contact, it dehumanizes the contact between people.
On the other hand.. it's really convenient.

Ever since the inception of the taser, I've personally found mall cops to be particularly more rude to me than before.

Rofl.
I was thinking about something like this the other day but more that .. it seems that since the internet, humor has become extremely crude between people...

Couldn't have said it better myself.
But then again I hate rude people with a passion. I've actually held a door open for someone and had them not even look at me so I called him back out and said he dropped something and before I shut the door I told him to open it for himself next time or say at least say thanks. The guy walked back in with an embarrassed face.
Girl at the counter just laughed and the man behind him just gave me a thumbs up hah.

Personally what bothers me more is how technology is making me into an idiot. My internet dementia is getting worse every year, and the day will come when I can't remember my address or home phone number anymore because my pda/cell/laptop remembers for me.
And they all break. At the same time.

There are also times when I was being nice and all, but I don't get any Thank You's from people, which sometimes make me feel like an idiot. It's like I'm getting the message, "Hello stupid, you didn't have to do that. I never told you to do that, but you volunteered, so I don't have to say thank you."

And what's with the "You've been Rick Rolled" on Youtube and various sites? I like the song but its annoying to be clicking on everything with the song popping up.

People make people rude.
That's true.
But it's also technology that allows people to be rude in different and more efficient ways.

People make people rude.
I was about to say the same exact thing. Almost word for word.
But it's also technology that allows people to be rude in different and more efficient ways.
(reread my post regarding tasers)
Yes, new developments in technology have allowed people to hide behind computers and be more impatient than ever before. But it doesn't make them act that way. People are fully capable of choosing how they respond to certain situations.

LOL ohhh Hermitttt.
People make people rude.
agreed.
Another thing, as technology advances for the purpose of helping us become more efficient it's also dumbing us down and debasing important forms of human interaction. It fascinates me how someone can turn from normal to crazy when the piece of technology they were using isn't performing the way it should lol.
If technology keeps advancing the same rate or faster, I give this world 10 more years before we all become socially retarded and very impatient brutes.
