Would you still be able to be best friends with someone you just broke up with? Like you still loved each other but say a complication got in the way that prevented you guys from being together and he'd rather chose to stay with his friends than be with you?

Would you love someone back if they had to let you go because their friends were more important than you even though they tell you that they love you alot?

I managed to stay friends with him after we ended our affairs in 07 and we're still in good terms
It feels much better than before
The love was intense but I think our shared conversations about other stuffs are more wonderful
we dont contact each other as often as before (that wld be euwww) Partly because of his friends, they're more important to him
But to his surprise his friends sometimes prefer my company
Its weird to know that they are friends yet they are somehow competing with each other LOL

I'd hate it if he says things like 'I know you better than anyone else.." because it would complicate our feelings
Its also hard when you start to talk about love and sex issues with him (awkward!)
since you know some things might overlap between love and friendship
you just have to know when to STOP
after all, man and woman hardly be just friends

If a guy and a girl can be friends after breaking up, either they're still in love or they never were.

I think it's possible after enough time has passed that you've both completely moved on. Otherwise, there might be some feelings lingering around that will never have the chance to heal.
Depending on how long you were with your partner and how deeply in love you two were, I'd say it would take anywhere from several months to a couple of years to get at the point.

haha. i'd like to think it's down-graded to a diff. kind of love.
besides. o_O' some friends are happily distant.
but best friends after a break up?
x_x' theoretically... something dramatic must have happened to stop it from continuing. that could shake a relationship apart.
like "you're siblings" haha.

My good ex and I are still friends. We don't call each other, just when we bump into each other we'll have a small chat that's about it. It's hard to stay best friend but it is possible.

If we were really close in our relationship and we were really serious..i don't think I could. But..if it was just a short relationship that didn't last and we didn't really have any feelings for each other..then sure. smile.gif

if he chose his friends over you, obviously his priorities are his friendships
there's nothing wrong with that..
you need to find someone who wants to be with you as much as he does, you

yes, it is possible to stay friends after breaking up
although, don't expect things to be the same
since you guys were romantically involved

there's a phrase that goes like this:
"if a man and a woman can remain friends after breaking up,
either they are both still in love, or they never were."

for a while, i couldn't be friends with my ex because he couldn't get over me
so we would always fight because he would get hurt by my actions
as if we were still together or something
like i didn't give him as much attention
rise and fall

Coming from guys perspective.

NO, you cant be friends after break up in serious relationship.

I cant see myself doing it, because you will always have some feeling towards other in bottom of your heart.

It is very hard to be friends with someone who has hurt you. Why would you want to? This is why I cannot be friends with my ex.

i don't agree with this: If a guy and a girl can be friends after breaking up, either they're still in love or they never were! omg. haha

after 3 years of being in a mutual understanding, we broke up
we were best friends before that. i thought that it'd be easy to be best friends after but nah
it took us 1 yr before we were finally able to talk to each other again
we're not THAT close anymore but we still remain friends, and joke about how much we were so madly in love with each other back then laugh.gif
i wouldn't say best friends anymore but we're comfortable & still very close smile.gif

well it is possible,
i knew this couple who dated
broke up and became BEST friends
but then again the guy turned gay
maybe thats why.

friends is possible in some cases, dont lose hope
but know when to give up.
