so it's my external hd, out of nowhere, i've been hearing clicks while i leave it on..........but everything seemed fine till the other day when i'm dl'ing something and halfway thru the the dl it stops and i get the message "write delay failed..........cant save, blah blah blah", if i disconnect and reconnect the hard drive it'll still pick it up, but it seems it's impossible to dl into it anymore

does this sound like an hd prob or enclosure?

It looks like your hard drive is the problem.
Go to the manufacturer's site and download a diagnostic scan tool to check up for problems
it would also be safe to backup any important data from the hard drive
