When I wake up in the morning, I wake up because I want to eat.
and then, when I start eating, I eat forever...even after i'm so bloated i still eat and eat more. T.T
& in one day i gain like a pound. >< Overeating is so bad.
I can't stop myself. & the bad thing is that I crave junk food and cookies and chocolate so I eat them.
Even though I try to stop eating those foods, so I grab an apple and eat it..but then I still want those cookies and I eat that too..so i eat double.
Ughhh, I hate myself.

Any advice to stop my sweets and junk food cravings?
and how to stop overeating.
Why am I hungry 24/7?

i have the same problem!
i know i'm not hungry, and i even try the "count to 15" thing, but it still doesn't work sad.gif
i've heard of drinking water when you have cravings, or brushing your teeth, or chewing sugarless gum (which i'm currently doing).
or maybe watch TV or exercise? or put some music and just dance/hop around.. maybe it'll help you forget that you're craving junk food.
sigh, i don't know. i hope someone will be able to help us.
i have weak will power -_____-

I have a friend who is super healthy, when she first started she had so many cravings for unhealthy foods but she kept her self control and the cravings disappear. Just remember the number one rule: NEVER BUY ANYTHING WHEN YOU'RE FEELING HUNGRY!! ^__^

I have the same problem :/
I'm trying to surround myself more with healthier foods.

I don't know if this will pertain to you, but I try not to eat any of it in the first place. That part I can control, but once I eat bad crap, I can't control myself and I end up eating a ton.

It's ok, I'm just like you except instead of sweets I crave for more savory things
like.. MEAT!!! OH I LOVE MEAAAATTTT

If you must, just have something small to nibble on, and don't take the whole thing. At least you had a taste of what you wanted and so you can move on with your life right?? I hope...

i was exactly like you but then i thought enough is enough, if i carried on i would gain weight like crazy.
i gained like 20 lbs , just from eating non stop.
my reason for this was because food made me happy and not bored.
i know the feeling to wake up bcos you just wanna eat.
but you have to have the power to stop this and control yourself.
no one can really help you with this but yourself.
you have to want it enough, want to lose weight and look good in clothes to be able control what you eat.
keep yourself busy and dont eat in front of the televison becaus that sometimes makes you eat more without realising.
once you resist the temptations you'll feel like you have more power and control over the food, dont let the food control you.

What you're experiencing is a high degree of sugar addition. Sugar is an really addictive substance. In Sugar Blues, William Dufty writes; 'The difference between sugar addiction and narcotic addiction is largely one of degree.'

Sugar depletes the body of potassium and magnesium, which are required for proper cardiac function, and the nutritional leaching caused by sugar can give rise to intense food cravings and eating binges, as the body seeks to replenish the nutrients 'stolen' from it by sugar.

You need to wake up and realise this. Change your diet, eat more fibre ( green leafy veggies and such), it'll make you feel fuller so you won't be feeling so hungry. Up your high quality fats such as olive oil, avocados, nuts, seeds, fish, and olives. Concentrate on Omega 3's walnuts, salmon and flax seeds. High quality fats give you a lasting feeling of satisfaction, provide sustained energy and have a mild effect on blood sugar just like protein.

I'm afraid you're the only one who can help yourself, by exercising willpower, its gonna be tough, but if you really want to do it, fight on against the cravings.

Dont buy the stuff, keep the junk food out of reach.

When you wake up, drink the juice of half a lemon in a tall glass of water, its not only cleansing your digestive system, but its also got vitamin c, and i found that it diminishes cravings. worked for me (yeah i had the same problem a long time ago). and exercise right after that. exercising at this time will keep the efforts you made fresh in your mind all day, so you'll think twice before bingeing coz u wouldnt want your efforts to go to waste right.

drink lots of water! Water helps clear toxins like sugar from the system.

Remember that processed foods act like sugar in the body, so stay away from white bread, white pasta and white rice when you are trying to reduce the amount of sugar you consume. Replace these with whole grain versions for a slower burning food.

Keep a food journal of what you eat and how you feel. writing it down makes you realise more concretely that you're overeating

Take your vitamins. proteins, complex carbohydrates and vitamins keep your serotonin and beta-endorphin at their optimal levels, so you wont be craving the junk foods so much

i hope i helped a bit, but the biggest factor is still discipline and will-power, u have to work on that the most.

You're going to be gaining some weight no matter what you eat during the day. Your weight fluctuates (sp?) throughout the day.

I can't tell you how to control your cravings, but just do it. And don't think to yourself "Oh I'll just eat one cookie" because you WILL end up going back for more. If you really want something sweet, then drink water. I know, stupid idea, but if you just keep on shoving water down your throat (not too much, maybe 2 cups max) then there's no room for cookies and ice cream. I used to overeat soo much. But I just imagine all my belly fat and it getting bigger and it just grosses me out so I don't eat junk food.

I've not been eating any snacks for two days and I can feel that my stomach is smaller smile.gif So I guess some of my fat was from eating snacks? Because I exercise a lot so I guess that my snacking issue was adding calories.

You have a food addiction ~ just like smokers have a nicotine addiction ~ or a form of drug addiction - heroin etc.

I not know exactly what you're going through like many of these Soompiers claim to say but I do have some advice that worked for me when I have problems with food...

1)Never eat out
2)Eat at home
3)If you're just eating it 'cause your hungry, don't eat it all because you're just going to crave something else in the end especially if you disliked what you just ate
4)Don't buy junk food, and if it helps you tell your room mate or your mom. dad. etc. whomever is in charge of buying groceries to stop buying it or have them hide it and not tell you
5)When you're craving junk food Google up obesity and take a look at what it does to you later on if it gets worse
6)If you think you can control yourself bring out the junk food and have it in front of where you are most present whether it be in your living room, kitchen, bedroom etc. have junk food in front of you whenever you can but try no to eat it...

You need to stop that mindset....
instead of waking up to eat.... wake up and drink some tea, watch tv, take a walk, go on soompi~
because you put yourself in a routine TO eat, even if you're not hungry! not good!

ok, you're weight fluctuates throughout the day. you eat, you poo, you sweat... all these are variables
weigh yourself once a day, the same time every day.

you need to be satisfied with what you eat, and apple is not satisfying...
so try to include some protein and fat in your meals like peanut butter, beans, chicken, fish, tofu

eat 5-6 mini meals throughout the day so you won't starve yourself to eat double.
if you want a cookie, do so in moderation! I can't restrict myself because once the craving builds up... I explode lol

if you don't buy cookies or ice cream, you won't eat it. so i never buy those things when i go grocery shopping
(but.... i love to bake so that doesn't really stop me lol)

or... be like me and just stuff myself full of cookies and ice cream until i get really really sick of it so much that I can't bear to look at cookies ever again. tongue.gif

what i do is that i don't buy any of those.
if they're not at home, then how can you eat them?

or when you feel like eating them, think of all the exercise you'd have to do to get it off.

Why not try to find healthy substitutes for the junk food. For example, sliced up fruit and freeze them in the freezer.
You just have to control what you eat and how much you eat.
Like some posters said, don't buy junk food. ^___^

some lady said it on the telly xD

so maybe that could help?

Every time you decide to put some more garbage down your throat, take it with you and go sit
in front of a mirror and watch yourself eat it.

This is actually what I did once and I never picked up a carton of ice cream ever again. It was disgusting to see myself gorge like that... =x

Rather than replying from a diet perspective, here is a health perspective...

Since your cravings seem to go beyond the norm and on a consistent basis, this might be triggared by other symptoms in your mental or physical health that needs medical attention. Not to scare you but...for example you could have diabetes, since those patience usually crave carbs and sugar like you. Also, junk foods make the body/brian release natural chemicals that sooths you, so you could have depression or are stressed. You should go consult a health professional because no matter what advice is given to you here, it might not be addressing the underlying problem.

If it's just psychological then...only thing is mind over matter.
