Christopher Nolan has set up his next project with Warner Bros., an original screenplay he wrote called Inception. The "Dark Knight" director hopes to shoot the sci-fi action film in the summer for a release during summer 2010.

Nolan will produce with partner Emma Thomas, who served as a producer on The Dark Knight.

"Chris Nolan is a visionary filmmaker who continually raises the bar with each movie he makes," Warner Bros. Pictures Group president Jeff Robinov said. "We are thrilled to be collaborating again with him and Emma on this exciting new motion picture."

Inception is described as "a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind."

This pushes back any potential filming on a third Batman film, but three years -- and The Prestige -- passed between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Nolan has also long been attached to direct a big-screen adaptation of the British TV series "The Prisoner" for producer Scott Stuber at Universal.

Holy crap, I'm really excited about this film. While I can't seem to get into Nolan's Batman films, I love love love The Prestige and most of all... Memento. Seriously, words can't even describe how amazing Memento was, and if Nolan can conjure something even half as brilliant, I will be a happy camper.

And also, Leo is a pretty good actor. I still think his best performance was in 1993's What's Eating Gilbert Grape, but he's a versatile actor and I've liked most of the movies he's played in. Add the fact that Nolan is directing and... the end result should be awesome.

My friend keeps nagging me to watch Memento! I can't find that movie anywhere. :S

My younger brother got me into Nolan's films. And I'm hooked. I loved Memento, there are hardly any films which are quite like his.

Ken Watanabe and Tom Hardy have now been added to Nolan's already star studded cast for 2010 movie; Inception.

Just when you thought that all the major stars of Christopher Nolan’s Inception had been announced. Warner Bros adds two more names to the list. The Dark Knight director will reteam with Batman Begins star Ken Watanabe, who will play the film’s villain, a man who is blackmailing Leonardo DiCaprio’s character. Tom Hardy, who got raves playing the title role in Bronson at Sundance, will play a member of DiCaprio’s team.

Details about the project are being kept tightly under wraps. All we know so far is that the movie is a contemporary science fiction action movie “set within the architecture of the mind.”

Leonardo DiCaprio plays the lead, a CEO-type, Marion Cotillard (La Vie en rose, Public Enemies) is his wife, Ellen Page (Juno) is a young college grad student and DiCaprio’s sidekick, Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays an associate working for DiCaprio. Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins, Sunshine) and Michael Caine are also signed on, but no details are known about their characters.

Inception will begin production this summer, and is scheduled to hit theaters on July 16th 2010.

The cast for this looks really effing solid. Someone commented that this cast is deserving for Best Ensemble Cast for the SAG Awards. I really can't wait till production begins on this project.

Christopher Nolan's Inception has begun lensing in Tokyo, Japan. Now, thanks to ScreenCrave, a new photo of Nolan, Leonardo DiCaprio and Ken Watanabe has surfaced in the local Japanese media. Check it out below.

Japan is one of six countries in which Inception will film, although a large percentage of shooting will take place in and around Kananaskis, Alberta.

In addition to DiCaprio and Watanabe, the new movie also stars Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy and Michael Caine.

Inception is described as a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind. It is scheduled to hit theaters on July 16, 2010.

Yea I definitely can't wait for this film. Leo is a terrific actor and Chris Nolan is amazing as a screenwriter and director. James Franco was supposed to be in this film but he has schedule conflicts and Joseph Gordon Levitt is replacing him. The movie has a HUGE budget, apparently $200 million!

OMG it sounds like a great cast...although Leo can be in a crappy movie like Body of Lies (but Mark Strong was awesome) and I'm still going to watch it. And Ken Watanabe! I've only seen two of his movies but he was excellent in both. I can't wait to see this movie.

So I hear that the first teaser trailer will be put together with the release of Inglourious Basterds. If anything, it'd probably be like that teaser for The Dark Knight where all you saw was a Batman symbol and audio over it. :S

UPDATE!

Firstly, the second trailer for this movie has just been released. Head on over to the link HERE to check out the second theatrical trailer for Inception. While it doesn't reveal the premise of the story, it does offer up the kind of visuals you'll come to familiarise yourself with in the film. Looks like one mindf*** of a movie so far.
