well its a given that quads are cheaper now than last year but the cheapest quad i seen was still at $150 q6600 a few weeks ago. the e8400 was $120 at mircocenter the other day but since i dont have a MC anywhere close, i couldnt get it. and 700w for a psu? too much money for a good/decent one. the average person will not even go close to 400w at 100%. i'll upgrade the psu later when i go xfire or sli. thats the only time someone would need more than 500w.

Er but considering what you want to do with the CPU and the graphics card you've picked.. I'd personally go for the HX-520 at least, better to get it now than have to replace it later?

Regarding the CPU though, I think 4GHz is a little unreasonable, perhaps go for the E8500/E8600?

I'm not familiar with US prices so I'm not sure how much that's all going to be...

the e8500/e8600 are great chips too but i havent seen them go on sale yet. i am on a budget and i think the e8400 would be most bang for buck. with this build (e8400 oc to 4ghz at 1.3v) plus fan controller, card reader, and 2 dvd burners running at 100%, its estimated at 414w. cutting it kinda close but i doubt i'll use everything at 100% excluding orthos/prime95. in a year or two, i'll probaly get a 750w or more psu when i go xfire or sli and use this 450w for another build. prices will always go down as time passes

so i completely flip the plan. went AMD instead. the 940 for $170 was too good to pass up. have to do research on AMD now =/
