Okay, recently, i had a discussion with my older brother who is 18 years old. i'm only 17 so im younger than him. just this week i had this sudden jealous feeling about my guy friend that i used to like, but im supposedly over him. i told my brother my problem and he says and i quote: "All girls are the same, they dont know how to control their feelings. they either get mad sad or happy, but it always changes. You guys just keep saying 'I cant help but feel this way.' i dont get how you cant just dont feel that way, its call selfcontrol"
I was feeling that way at that moment, i told him that all girls arent the same, yet he responded that we're just crazy and stupid for feeling that way for a guy. I argued back saying that we so can control our feelings and that we're not crazy or stupid, its just at times we have those kind of moments.
But still, he didnt think its true, he told me to prove to him that i can be a "normal girl"
i have to do the following and this involves with that guy i mentioned earlier:
no texting him.
no hugging him.
dont go to him.
very little talking to him.
basically, nothing to deal with him.
you may think it's an easy thing to do, but it really isnt.
you see, i do kinda like him, and he was my best friend so i care about him so much.
i just have no idea why, and thats the other thing that has my brother thinking girls are psycho.
we have feelings but dont know why, or we just cant get over things.
my brother watches me with a close eye whenever we're hanging out with the guy and other ppl.
i have to prove him wrong...
but i dont think i can do it thru actions, well not all the time.
i need words, i cant think of anything.
what do you girls think????
help me please.....

To be honest, I don't think you have to prove anything to your brother. That's the most important thing.
Firstly, how you feel about someone and how you choose to act on it has nothing to do with him (even if he is your brother). Whether you like this guy or not, you shouldn't have to limit your contact with him because of anyone else unless you choose to do this yourself. Of course, if this guy has a girlfriend then you don't want to do anything that would jeopardise their relationship . . .
Secondly, of course "not all girls are the same" but at the same time its not just girls that can act uncontrollably and unrationally towards someone they like. Guys are the same. There are guys out there who do seriously disturbing things becuase they like a girl or because they can't get over an ex. Does that mean we should say "all guys are the same"? No, because that would be unfair.
Lastly, if he says all girls are the same and then telling you to be a "normal girl" then isn't he being contradicting?

Words unspoken because words cannot express . . . 如果要說 何謂愛情

well i was gonna write all this stuff, but i dont want to bore you.
i don't think you need to prove anything to your brother.. he is your brother. anyways, if you do all the 'no' stuff, maybe the guy might get the wrong idea.. and be all 'why are you avoiding me?'
but totally agree with what HuelWan said up there. and theres nothing else for me to write.

I will get many flames.
But you girls need to agree that yes all girls do overthink. So in terms of that, yes, they are all the same.
That's also fairly true imo. All or most (meaning 80%) are like that. so it's true that girls are the same in that matter.
But not in different matters. Such as preference, etc2.
And I'm really really curious.
Coming from a guy, what's so bad about saying that all guys are the same?
I don't feel offended one bit. I'm willing to bet that everyone who complains about generalization are all girls.
Because as a guy I seriously don't see anything wrong with saying all guys are the same.
I mean, yeah we ARE the same. We like cars, we like games, we like sports, we overthink as well sometimes.
what's so biggie about that?

He's a guy. You can't blame him for thinking that way, nor can you change it.
