GUYS...

Besides the fact that the girl is pretty, why else would you do that? is it the way she dresses? her attitude?or are you guys just being rude?

GIRLS...

Do you hate it when they do that or do you take that as a compliment? do you approach them?

I take it as a compliment but I also hate it. Share experiences? There are too many.

Reminds me of Starstruck - 3OH!3.

"Nice legs, Daisy Dukes,
Makes a man go (whistles)
That's the way they all come through like (whistles)
Low-cut, see-through shirts that make ya (whistles)
That's the way she come through like (whistles)

Tight jeans, double d's makin' me go (whistles)
All the people on the street know (whistles)
Iced out, lit-up make the kids go (whistles)
All the people on the street know (whistles)"

I take it as a compliment... someoneee out there finds me hot.

I highly dislike being whistled at. I don't even take it as a compliment because I don't take guys who whistle at girls seriously, haha.

Men that are moronic enough to beep their car horns/wolf whistle at a girl like she's some kind of dog are in my experience not really picky. Much as I would love to conclude that me not being able to walk down the main road near my house without a load of heckling, whistling and beeping meant that I'm pretty damn hot, I am almost certain that any other girl would experience exactly the same thing. As long as you're recognizable as female and under 35 from a distance, you'll get whistled at.

The reason why guys do it is probably to prove something to their buddies. That they're "in" on how to objectify women. It's the less educated version of tapping his buddy on the shoulder and pointing his chin in the direction of the "hottie in question". Also if a girl carries herself in a way that looks like she really wants that type of attention, a guy will try their luck at it. I'm sure we've all heard of girls that dress provocatively and wears tons of make-up. Even if she is overweight or not very attractive, a guy will treat her sexually and give her cheap attention like this.

Wolf whistling/horn beeping says a hell of a lot more about the guy than it does about the girl. So yeah, I ignore it. I'm not a dog.

I take it as a compliment. blush.gif

I don't think it's so much as to show their, "affection", they just find you attractive in a certain way. Like the post above me, maybe it's the way they carry themselves, or their outer appearance.

It's all fun and games, don't think too much about it.

whistling...its a compliment but at the same time i am more likely to look the persons way if they are sweetly looking but a babaric whistle is annoying, it draws unnecessary attention to you and its a bit over the top. I've had Cars and vans honk which are funny, ohh and drivers wind down the windows to shout out they are funny.

I got honked at once and tripped and fell in response = = and I was driving with my dad one time and these guys stopped beside us at the intersection and started yelling some really derogatory crap towards me. That was pretty stupid.

I don't like it.

i'm not even that cute and i've gotten honked at/"holla"'d ("ay yo! shawty in the red - come over here!") at on the street. i just ignore it. i think some dudes are just like "omg a female!" and whistle or honk, etc.

Yeah I agree with mrskaneshiro as well. I usually just ignore the whistling/honks anyways. But it sort of pisses me off when I am with my mom and they do it to her as well.

it's flattering, but i dislike it. i feel like it's degrading, and people normally ask their pets to come to them in a better way than that. ><

Maybe the guys in your area tend to do so?

I can't say I've ever whistled or hollered after a girl before. I have made funny faces though.

Well, i dislike it. For one, its usually much older, older guys. Haha. Also, i'd much rather have the guy come up and talk to me rather than have me walk up to them after hearing a whistle.

I'm gonna have to agree with the select few in here. Almost always when a girl is whistled at, I don't take it as "she's smokin' hot". lol.

It's more like: "omg. look, it's a girl!" I've seen it all pan out before as well, so I'm quite sure of it.

Sure, some girls might feel flattered right off the bat, but when you stop and think about it, they really didn't whistle at you because they thought you were extremely attractive. lol.

This only solidified my assumption when I saw a bunch of construction workers trying to chat up a girl walking in front of me. After she walked away from their speaking distance, they spotted me, and told the others: "There's another one!" Needless to say, I zoomed outta there as fast as I could.

And it doesn't help that these situations usually involve much older guys that do it to girls half their age.

Last year I was playing tennis with my dad outside. A red car drives by, a teenage guy sticks out his head and whistles loudly. I was like blink.gif
Sure I was really short shorts (XS really old Soffes), but I was sweating and all gross. Plus it was embarrassing. I don't think my dad knew what it meant, thankfully. But I was only 13 at the time (I'm 14 now) so it was pretty weird. I was like UGH pedophile!
