What's Up With Guys Whistling At Girls? is that how you show your affection towards them?

Besides the fact that the girl is pretty, why else would you do that? is it the way she dresses? her attitude?or are you guys just being rude?
GIRLS...
Do you hate it when they do that or do you take that as a compliment? do you approach them?

"Nice legs, Daisy Dukes,
Makes a man go (whistles)
That's the way they all come through like (whistles)
Low-cut, see-through shirts that make ya (whistles)
That's the way she come through like (whistles)
Tight jeans, double d's makin' me go (whistles)
All the people on the street know (whistles)
Iced out, lit-up make the kids go (whistles)
All the people on the street know (whistles)"
I take it as a compliment... someoneee out there finds me hot.

The reason why guys do it is probably to prove something to their buddies. That they're "in" on how to objectify women. It's the less educated version of tapping his buddy on the shoulder and pointing his chin in the direction of the "hottie in question". Also if a girl carries herself in a way that looks like she really wants that type of attention, a guy will try their luck at it. I'm sure we've all heard of girls that dress provocatively and wears tons of make-up. Even if she is overweight or not very attractive, a guy will treat her sexually and give her cheap attention like this.
Wolf whistling/horn beeping says a hell of a lot more about the guy than it does about the girl. So yeah, I ignore it. I'm not a dog.

I don't think it's so much as to show their, "affection", they just find you attractive in a certain way. Like the post above me, maybe it's the way they carry themselves, or their outer appearance.
It's all fun and games, don't think too much about it.

Pretty much everything mrskaneshiro said, I agree with. It's annoying hearing it.

Yeah I agree with mrskaneshiro as well. I usually just ignore the whistling/honks anyways. But it sort of pisses me off when I am with my mom and they do it to her as well.

It's more like: "omg. look, it's a girl!" I've seen it all pan out before as well, so I'm quite sure of it.
Sure, some girls might feel flattered right off the bat, but when you stop and think about it, they really didn't whistle at you because they thought you were extremely attractive. lol.
This only solidified my assumption when I saw a bunch of construction workers trying to chat up a girl walking in front of me. After she walked away from their speaking distance, they spotted me, and told the others: "There's another one!" Needless to say, I zoomed outta there as fast as I could.
And it doesn't help that these situations usually involve much older guys that do it to girls half their age.

Sure I was really short shorts (XS really old Soffes), but I was sweating and all gross. Plus it was embarrassing. I don't think my dad knew what it meant, thankfully. But I was only 13 at the time (I'm 14 now) so it was pretty weird. I was like UGH pedophile!
