I just got a 1200 a few months ago and have been slowly collecting records. I've heard that temperature can ruin records over time. Right now my apt. is climate controlled- doesn't get too hot, doesn't get too cold, not too damp, no direct sunlight, all stored vertically. The main issue is that I'll be moving to NYC and my apt. will have a pathetic excuse for a/c. So will the NYC summers ruin my records?

If anything were to happen to my DJ Krush's Strictly Turntabilized (yeah, some idiot got rid of it and I picked it up used) or any of my Portishead records (still looking for Roseland NYC live), I would be heartbroken. I'd rather just leave them at my parents house where I could store them, knowing they would be fine.
