some guy from my class asked me to go to prom and i said " yes " but i dont know what im suppose to do with him during prom....
am i suppose to be be with him for the whole time (i.e dancing?) but what if i dont know how to dance????!

he's your partner but you don't really have to be with him the whole night. but if you want to go hang with others, just tell him - for politeness sake...
