Have anyone ever used 1099 or w-9 before?
What is the differences between these two?
and is it true that if we get either of these 2, we have to file and pay tax every 3 months?
thanks

another question:
is the amount you pay for the quarterly 2009 self-employment tax:
(((n*.9235) ) * .153)/2 where n = 3*monthly income?
thx

you receive different 1099's for income other than wages, like 1099-int for interest income, 1099-div for dividends.
a w-9 is a request for taxpayer identification number and certification.
usually you only need to pay tax every 3 months (each quarter) if you need to make additional estimated tax payments. for individuals that's at least 100% of last year's tax liability or 90% of this years.
