So for about a month and a half now, I've been running a little over a mile just about everyday.
Sometimes outside, but mostly it's been on the treadmill at the gym at a dorm.
I live in the city, so I'm shy to run around when everyone's shopping and cars are zooming by everywhere.

Anywho, just recently, like last week, I tried running on the treadmill and my right knee started hurting.
It felt.. Hmm.. How to word it. Kind of like strained, like maybe joint pain? I think I just strained it from running so much.
I rested it for about four days and started running again because power walking takes too long.
Luckily, after about 4min into the run it kind of went away, either that or I was just good at ignoring it.

I don't want it to get any worse, but I don't want to stop running.
Is there anything I could do? Or if you know what's going on, can you give me some tips, please?
Is there something I could eat to help the joints or something? Should I eat more of a certain vitamin? I don't know! Lol.
I just don't want this problem to keep me from my exercising routine. Then again, I don't want to push my knee and then end up messing it up or something. Am I being too paranoid? Ahh.

Oh, oh! And my left shin has started to kind of get tight too when my right knee hurts while I run. I do stretch and all that good stuff. So any idea what that could mean?

Okay, thanks for reading. Pretty long, sorry. c:

Take some glucosamine + MSM along with some fish oils. Stop running for now and start biking,
don't aggravate the injury, just make sure you baby it for now and allow it to heal. After it gets better
you should alternative between biking and any other low impact cardio and running.

Sometimes you have to tone down or throttle back on running- especially if you do it a lot. Makaveli has given some great tips and advice. Swimming and ellipticals work great along with dancing for a couple of hours!

You shouldn't be running everyday; you should be running about three to five times a week and then doing alternative exercises the other days to allow your muscles to rest and recover. Running is pretty hard on the knees anyway and it's easy to injure yourself. The best alternative to running is the elliptical machine which basically simulates running without the strain to your knee. Of course, my boyfriend and I prefer running by far (difficult to 'sprint' on an elliptical--it all feels like you're doing a slow jog); but the elliptical is still a viable option. Cycling, swimming, and walking on an incline are all good 'off' day exercises. And, of course, you should do weight training if you're serious about losing weight. You should also stretch before and after you exercise.

For reference, I interval train for about 5 miles when I'm on the treadmill and I do this about three to four times a week. I basically sprint a quarter of a mile and jog a quarter of a mile alternately. My body has really toned up quickly over the past few weeks though I know I can push the sprinting part more (at the moment I'm only sprinting at about 8.5mph; but I probably should do more of a sprint like 9mph). You should think about interval training if you're looking to lose weight faster since interval training is the fastest way to cut fat.
