and The Fresh Prince of Persia

anyway, I'm really so excited about this movie. I love Jake Gyllenhaal, Mike Newel as the director just thrilled me and with Jerry Bruckheimer on board nothing should go wrong! but I'm a little bit worried it will suck! I love the game to pieces and I will hate it if the movie won't do justice to it! so I'm expecting to see all of the amazing uses of the dagger of time (freeze, slow motion, turn back time... etc) and all of the amazing acrobats of the Prince (especially walking on walls) and the music too. I wish if they use one of the soundtracks of X ray Dog cause it's so epic. I hope we get to see the trailer before the end of this year.

At first I was a little ehhh on JG, but he has bulked up for the movie and gosh darn you're right, what's with all these men and the muscle gain?
Funny fact: In that picture of JG you have, I heard the makeup people trimmed his chest hair to make it more "organized." Haha.
And yeah the whole no gore thing is a little bummer, but Sands of Time wasn't gory.
I trust Jerry Bruckheimer. Make it good man. Looking forward to this.

ViVa4ever – It’s always a plus to have the support of the creator, you know? I think that’s huge that he liked the trailer!
Did you see this on Facebook? You can ask Mechner and Bruckheimer questions about the game and the film…great chance to find out more info before any of the footage comes out!

in one of the forums I read, someone said he went and saw the screening and that the movie is awesome and looks just like the game and the prince is doing all of his awesome stuff from the game. He also says it it doesn't look like a Disney movie at all! (not sure if this is a good or a bad thing!)
anyway, I saw this video and it says that Johnny Depp turned down the offer of Bruckheimer to join the movie, so the title role went to Jake Gyllenhaal!!

gahh I can't wait to watch the movie.

The film really feels like a revamped version of an Indiana Jones film, only this is set centuries before and also has the benefit of the amazing special effects and cutting-edge technology. It's also quite fitting since Mechner created the first game in 1989 off a heavy influence from the film Raiders Of The Lost Ark. However, fans of that 1989 original should know that the film was based off the more modern Sands of Time game Mechner created, and not the original game. Still, this really does look like a film that could easily spawn a blockbuster franchise and - despite the numerous misgivings many had about the casting of Jake Gylennhaal - it truly does look like he pulls off this Dastan character in wonderful fashion, and they did a nice job in the trailer teasing the chemistry between Dastan and white-hot newcomer Gemma Arterton's Tamina.
Great news, right? Looking forward to seeing the footage!
Hmm not so sure about the Depp rumor, but sounds like Gyllenhaal was the perfect choice!

but I hope they change the style of the poster! it's not creative and the font is so bad! so modernized!
other articles: expressing their impression about the trailer:

a detailed glimpse to the trailer (credits to comingsoon.net):
The two-minute trailer starts off with a glimpse of the mythical land of Persia, which looks stunning, and then a brief look at the dagger that's enclosed in a glass case.
"Have you ever wondered how you could have found such a treasure? The gods have a plan for you. A destiny," we hear the princess saying as short clips of the scenes mentioned above play on the screen.
We then see Gyllenhaal jumping off a cliff and a few seconds later climbing a wall with arrows as his stepping stones. Someone shoots at him and he turns around looking nervous but annoyed as well.
"The sand turns back time," the audience is told a few seconds into the trailer. "Only the holder of the dagger is aware of what's happening."
A quick clip is is shown of the prince holding the dagger and turning into sand.
"Only the dagger can unlock the sands of time. There are those who would use this power to destroy the world," Arterton's character explained. "The only way to stop this Armageddon is to take the dagger to the secret guardian temple."
Although the footage we saw was brief, which made it difficult to see where the story is going, the rivalry and tension between the prince and princess was very clear. Their witty banter was entertaining and well-written.
"You really enjoy telling me what to do don't you?" Gyllenhaal's character sarcastically asks.
"Only because you're so good at following orders," the princess quickly snaps back.
"Don't press your luck. The Sands of Saint, they strike terror into the heart of all they cross," he replies.
"Such a noble prince - leaping to assist the fallen beauty," she says.
"Who said you were a beauty," he laughs.
"There must be some reason why you can't take your eyes off me," she says.
He then tries to say something but begins to stutter, not knowing how to respond to the princess' feisty comebacks.
Next up was a scene showing a wicked force holding a snake.
"The high temple is guarded by some sort of demon," the princess said.
The following scene was the two with a group of people walking. She asks where the dagger is and he tells her, "You're welcome to search me for it. You need to be very thorough."
She looked intrigued by his scandalous offer, but tried to pretend like she was irritated by him.
The final clip in the trailer was the prince fighting off a rather large snake and the mouth of the reptile was open and about to bite him.

the effect of the rewind looks a lot like the "two thrones". But I don't think they will include the dark prince in this movie (maybe in the sequel).

especially the special effects were just WOW
Totally agree. Can you imagine that on the big screen? Should be intense. I thought they showed a good amount of action sequences - anyone else love watching Jake jump from one roof top to the next!?!? Plus, I liked the chemistry between him and Tamina (Gemma Arterton - I liked her character a lot in the Quantum of Solace).

I am happy with how Bruckheimer is fleshing out the plot details and character attributes. Like Pirates (which was original a ride a Disney) he has a lot of elements to work with, but certain details will be original to the film - like Jake's accent, which I thought sounded appropriate.
Here is an interview with Bruckheimer and Jordan Mechner that explains a lot about who the story developed, the special effects, ect ect --- (ViVa4ever - Mechner addresses your dark prince comment as well

I thought I saw the daggertail in the trailer! o.O
here's another video (kinda like an interview with Mechner) while watching POP trailer frame by frame:
http://movies.ign.com/dor/objects/664420/p...pt1_110409.html
there's this part where he says: "one of the really cool moments for me was meeting Jake in character, in costume on set. And he had this dagger of time in his belt, so I was like: "excuse me, is that...?" he's like: "yeah, you wanna hold it?" so actually holding the physical dagger in my hands and feeling how heavy it was and how well-made, it was really cool".
he sounds really happy and proud. I would wanna hold the dagger too and see if it turns back time
seeing the rewind effect in slow mo is fantastic (Mechner says it's not the final version yet! wow I'm impressed by it already!). He also mentions the "assanssins" who weren't in any of the games. group of people and each one has his own characteristic and weapon (soooo cool ^^). mentioned Dastan's older brother (the guy wearing the crown) and Nizam (sir Bin Kingsly) who's Dastan's uncle.

I would probably be totally speechless if I met Jake...
The film's facebook page has some interesting interviews with Bruckheimer (a few days ago, I posted about submitting questions on facebook and now Bruckheimer is answering them - pretty cool.) Seems like Mechner and Bruckheimer are really committed to keeping the fans pleased.
