i think burton is one of the best snowboards from what i heard (but it's pretty expensive). i have a morrow and it's a pretty nice board. i'm not really sure of a good place where the price is affordable.. i bought my board & boots at a snowboard convention like 2 years ago.

if you want the boards and stuff to be cheap, i would recommend you to wait for the end of season sales.
since they go i think at least half off. smile.gif
not sure about where though..
and for brands uhm.. i like burton and i dont really know other brands,
so sorry, no help there sweatingbullets.gif

since you just started, you don't need to shell out a lot of money on a board until you know how you ride. Just go around to stores that sell boards and such. usually, you can get a deal. if you live in CA you can check out Zumies, they have boards for like $100. or else you can also check out craigslist.com

to save money and time, craigslist is your best friend ever. For now, since you're still new to it, don't bother to worry about brands.

nah... i'd say just look for a board that you think has a coo design or something... most boards are made the same...

if you're just a beginner i wouldn't spend big bucks on a board (unless you're ballin)
since you'll probably be switching boards later anyway (for tricks or speed and such)

i'd go with a cheaper board but good bindings and comfy shoes.

there isn't a huge difference btwn the cheaper boards,
but there is with bindings.
if they're bad, they can fall off while your boarding and that can be pretty dangerous >.>

and like others have said, buy them during the end of the season.
that's when the prices go down like mad.

It really depends on your height/weight/style of ride you want. You can't go wrong with a burton, and last year models are always cheaper if you don't mind older pictures on your board. Also, I would suggest that you wait and buy the board during the summertime, where the sales are huge for boards (as everyone said). Stiffer boards, wider boards, there are a lot. Ask the person who's helping you with the board, and they'll give you good info. If you live in so. cal, Val surf and snow is a pretty good shop.
I want to be the one in front of you...just like that guy.

Anyways, I hate the way people fall all the time and sit there for a minute. I'd love to run them over, but... I dont want to hurt myself. I think the bottom of the slope is a lot more dangerous than the top. It's like an obstacle course down there... I snowboard, sprain my wrist everytime I go due to gaining air, but doesnt stop me from going back up. I want to learn how to skii though, looks cool how you spin like a helicopter and do those tight jumps and go woosh woosh woosh, lol.

just white them out. thats what i do sometimes..at least w/ my friends hahaha. nothing better then seeing the look on their face as the see a wave of white crashing down on them

I went snowboarding at camelback for the first time.
oh maaaann, next time im definetly getting lessons T___T

i went on the bunny slope 3 times and walked down two of them after tripping over the whole mountain T__T
But after break, when i went again, i learned how to get back up [:
yeahyeah, but i still ran into couple of grannys and ended up doing a split getting off the lift and crashing into my friend.
ahh, now i belong in a retirement home tongue.gif and it hurts every time i try to use the toilet T__T

but i loved snowboarding even though I'm better in skiing.
Looked cool wink.gif

I enjoy my skiing happy.gif Never really was attracted by snowboards and plus I've been skiing since I was a wee lass. Usually whenever I go out and see one snowboarder wipes out they end up sitting there, and the next one to drop right next to him. So pretty soon you have a circle of lazy boarders chatting about all day!

I took a ski lesson two years ago..and that seriously did not work out for me :x

then last week I took a snowboarding lesson, and this week I went again. I picked it
up pretty quickly. I can carve now. woohoo. I'm planning to go again in two weeks.
I looooove snowboarding. I'm never going skiing again, even though it was just once..
it was pretty traumatizing. hahaha. I can't wait until I get good enough to get my own gear.

I prefer boarding. Freestyle. And I'm not very keen on people that are skiing. Especially when skiing lessons with little children, are taking the whole spot for them. Or the race skiers that are going in the Freestylepark to jump with their racing skiis. Insane. But I really like Freestyle Skiing.
But boarding wins for me.
