I've seen it's come and goings, it was pretty popular last year and now, it's back. I've always knew this exercise but only tried it like once. It's name and affect has been spearding around lately. I heard it strengthen your heart, keeps balance, and helps you to improve your breathing problems.

I tried it few minutes ago before turning the computer on, wow, it was so exhausting. My legs were tingling so bad.

Note: it is relevant to the buddist culture, don't try if you're a biased Christian and so much into it.

So what's the exercise?

Oh, and I'm not even Christian but err... "biased Christian"? Isn't that a little offensive?

It's just literally bowing.

Ah, it wasn't supposed to be offending, sorry. I didn't got the information right off my mouth, I heard it somewhere and just remembered it suddenly because my dad said he's gonna start doing it tonight.

I didn't say they "shouldn't" do it, there's so many Christians who found this exercise offending because exercise are what everyone should do, and the posture was taken off a buddhist relevance.

She could just be supplicating before a warlord. Christians that take body movements for something specific are making a horrible assumption. This is cute.. though I don't find it very effective as a source of exercise. Though it could be harder for someone out of shape and as you do this movement anyone that had enough fat would definately notice it as they got down to the ground.

Yeah it doesn't look very effective. It looks like a (very) mild variation of burpees? Although I haven't tried it so eh, who knows, maybe I'll find it actually taxing.

^ You can't judge a book by it's cover. Seriously, my thighs hurted and felt so sore after a while. 108 seems like nothing but it takes a lot of pressure. It's a fast and light workout, alternative it when you're lazy as hell but need to workout.

Oh its the bowing you go through when you bow to Buddha...right? ^__^"
I remember it seemed hard to me when I had to do this once... but then again I've never been in shape before.

There's the old thread on this.
This is actually a very good exercise, it's much harder than it looks because you have to keep doing it over and over.
Don't discount something you have never tried -.-

Compare doing 100 of those vs 100 burpees.

I for one am not discounting it. Understanding and going through it; realizing just how physically demanding it is vs a more explosive exercise format is key wink.gif If it is something you are willing to do - by all means use it as a form of exercise - I think it would be even better if you would open up a thread and blog your progress over 3-6 month span with pictures to demonstrate the effectiveness too! I'm sure more soompiers out there would love to try it out as an additional exercise. Any exercise a person will do is a plus! Cheers to your health!

^that's awesome, yea that exercise looks difficult too, but I have weak wrists and putting pressure on it like that would really hurt me (I can't do pushups even without it hurting).
I was just hoping others wouldn't get the impression that this is just a weaker form of exercise. ^^
It's true, any exercise is good for you! This particular one happens to be quite relaxing though, and it allows you to focus on your breathing a lot, like in yoga. It also strengthens your leg muscles because as you stand back up, you gotta put a lot of effort into your legs and it hurts.
I'm actually a very athletic person and I've found this was super helpful for me in getting toned. At the end I'm breathing super hard and sweating.

Oh, then you must get bored of everything after two times? Exercising is to do for the sake of your health and body supplement, not to cheer your boredom. D:

Maybe I overdid this workout, climbing and going down the stairs is like a death to me now.

No, actually, thanks for assuming?
I do actually exercise for both my health and my boredom.
A lot of things with exercising do not bore me, but that one does.
