I want to know how to make an actual dvd file and burn it onto a dvd-r and be able to scroll through menus that i myself made. what i mean is how do you burn a dvd with compatibilities with dvd players and not just computers.

*can i do that with sony vegas?
*does anyone know how to?

i hear to make a real DVD it takes a lot of time and effort. my brother does that stuff for school and you need all these programs and whatnot...

As a beginner I would recommend you to use tmpgenc dvd author. It's a very easy program and it has enough options to make a nice looking dvdmenu and it's pretty fast. When you have your mpg files ready you can just add them in tmpgenc dvd author and chose or create your own menu. The only important thing that's missing though you can't have optional subs. But I always use hardsubs.
