Rock band Mate was chosen as exclusive models of the jewelry brand LUSUS.
Mate received a high interest with their title song 'Miss/Longing' and also songs like 'Fly to the Sky', 'I love you', 'Lean.. on you' etc from their debut Album released in spring 2009. They are a talented rock band with their album on rank 1 of the newcomer band’s album sales.
Not just their abilities, also their outward appearance is outstanding; drummer Lee Hyun Jae is also active as model for various brands like UGIZ, Cold Stone, Nikon etc.
A representative of LUSUS stated "searching for a strong, delicate and high ranking like model, we saw Mate's performance and we thought that all three are qualified for this position and proposed them to become exclusive models." and "especially fitting the image and slogan of 'with Mate together the luck comes', we plan to design a special jewelry with a symbol containing a clover with Mate's logo."
On the other side Mate is preparing for their Concert 'It's Christmas Mate' from 23rd until 26th December.
Mate is receiving high attention with their advanced concert ticket selling rising on rank 3 in just a few days. Right after the ticket open on 29th at 2pm 1000 tickets were sold in advance through Interpark, threatening the top ranking of advanced sells in just one day and receiving high interest from music fans.
Vocal and guitar Im Heon Il says "We plan to show a different sound to make the Christmas festival brighter" and "with a special sound we will make the performance stay keep in the audience’s hearts"

Omo wow that new hair! I'm kind of glad b/c personally i'm not a fan of long hair. But wow he looks so boyish. I think it's his tiny face and the way his hair curls… I guess the curly hair is natural then?
It's funny, I read the text ("Hyunjae cut his hair") first and couldn't remember for a second who was who… scrolled down a bit, saw Heonil and Joonil (but I couldn't remember their names) and thought maybe it was Joonil (because it looks like he has cut his hair)… then scrolled down some more and was like "Oh yeah he's Hyunjae OMO his hair." lol :P
(But I don't like Heonil's dyed hair… personal preference, I know, but I just like natural black hair on Asians. :P)
Oh and thank you for the article translation! Jewelry? interesting…
Man, what I wouldn't give to attend their concert. I imagine it'll be amazing… I'm glad they're apparently quite successful in Korea. I selfishly wish they could perform on more music shows b/c that's really the only way I get to see them perform, but oh well. :P
And their concert poster is cute. ^_^

Joon Il and Heon Il participated in the OST for "After the Banquet". Not sure if it is a drama or movie, but d-addicts lists it under "Telecinema".

Edit// I suppose Telecinema is a series of TV movies or something, and After the Banquet is one of them. Love the song though!

^ "Stronger" songs? I'm glad. I adored "하늘을 날아 (Fly to the Sky)" so much. Their other songs were lovely, of course, but "하늘을 날아" was just evoked such a rush of joy. (I think I may be setting myself up for disappointment considering how much I like that one song and am hoping for more songs just like that… but I know I'll be happy regardless.)
I'm so glad for the news. This thread has been dead for a while… which I know is kind of inevitable if an artist isn't very accessible to an international audience (through music shows, etc.). Though I'm not sure if I actually want them to perform much on the big three music shows (Music Bank, Music Core, Inkigayo). The nature of the shows necessitates "instrument-syncing" (that is, only the vocals are live), which I feel cheats the integrity of the band. So I guess it's a balance between promotions/visibility and doing it the right way.
Anyway, can't wait for the mini-album!!!

You saw them live?? O_o Ahh I'm so jealous. In a good way. lol
May I ask, where was it? What kind of venue? And was it a full setlist (or just one or two songs?)
I am anxiously anticipating the moment I can start listening to the mini-album. x)

Hyun Jae the drummer once said that there was once a n american in his father's family but he himself just heard it, he didn't know the person, so it seems a whole while back, some generations...

I'd say the minialbum has more of a variety the first album didn't have. Don't have a complet 1a overview of the songs, but if there's a song comparable to 하늘을 날아 then it would be probably 'It's all about love' (the title Heon Il can sing but has difficulties to speak lol) but the songs have all in all a relative new feel, without loosing the 'mate-ish' I'd say .... but better hear for yourself >_>;
I think the problem was that they were either performing somewhere in clubs or doing and preparing concerts and making their minialbum, but I don't think international fans are much interested in when they give a concert?
I think know what you mean with the three big music shows. also, I think they have nowadays this 'mainstream-feel', do not neccessarily want to see Mate in that >_<
you did? without me? when? where? did you hear Joon Il laugh? :'D

EDIT
Never mind, I found it! About to go through it now. x)
Btw, when/where did you hear Heonil speaking the title?
