Approach it cautiously, contact their department or people who are already in the CS/engineer program and see what they like about it. All the GA schools approach the degree differently. Here at Emory the Intro CS class is basic Java programming, at Tech my friend said it was Python, but her brother at G-state had to take like 3-4 baby computer classes (like word processing) before they even learned a language. I don't know anyone who is on that path at UGA so I can't speak for it.
All around though, UGA is a good school. So if you didn't get into G-tech, there's no shame in going to Georgia. What other options do you have?

Interesting. Never knew Southern Poly was so highly reputable.

These days, no job is guaranteed, but good luck with your future plans anyways. I myself being a math major had to take CS once and it was surprisingly difficult. So to me, a CS degree is impressive regardless.
Only in terms of technical institutes. After all it makes sense to go to a school that specializes in your major rather than go to a big name/ state school that has a mediocre program.

GT is definitely better for that kind of major, so an option could be to just get your basic credits (like math, english, history, etc) which you need for any degree, and transfer to tech.
Also, anyone has a chance to get into a top grad school if you do well at your undergraduate school. You are competing with kids that come from GT, Harvard, Ole Miss, EVERYWHERE. It all depends on how well YOU do, not necessarily the name of your undergrad school.

Not sure how many international students are at UGA but there's tons at the other GA schools.

I'd say if you want to go compsci it might be in your best interest to transfer to Gatech... but as we all know, tech is a lot harder than uga, so be prepared...
and if you had the same gpa as a tech kid and the same credentials, they'll take the tech kid... but either, MIT's hard to get into so work really hard, take classes you can handle, and do a loootttt of extracurriculars. Good luck!

thanks. im planning to go to tech too. just waiting for the waitlist thing to see if they accept me. so rite now im using uga as back up.
another question. does it matter if ur international student and ur on the waitlist. are they more likely to reject u if ur international?
