My doctore prescribe me Doxy in syrup form. I previously took Tetracyline but she switch to a different one because Tetracyline was giving me a bad stomach. It's been 2 weeks or more since I've been on it, I'm not expecting result but my I've been forming new pimple and it's gotten redder. It's making me feel discourage, I don't results that quick but I just wanna know is it suppose to get worse first?
Let's do the math shall we?

I just started and I'm also curious about this. I hate it when it gets worse before it gets better or atleast I hope it will get better. I'm getting nervous now

I'm taking the pills and they've completely cleared up the breakouts on my back, but not on my face or chest. Which is very disappointing.

Has the doctor prescribed the correct dose?
You need to take doxycycline for at least 6 weeks. If you find no improvement after that, you should consult the doctor to titrate your dose according to your response.
Usually with tetracycline and doxycycline, it's best to have it after a meal, because it can cause nausea on an empty stomach

i've taken this and it will definitely clear but after you stop it, you will get acne back. at first it will come a lot and get red then go away.

i took doxycycline maybe a couple of years ago. it takes a while (definitely longer than 2 weeks) to get good results. first, it'll make you purge so expect the worst breakouts - it gets depressing but just hang in there. my skin got better after 3 months or so.

the bad thing is when you stop taking doxy, your skin stays clear for a few months then you get the acne back :/

ask your doctor about DORYX, is a name brand time release doxycyclin. i have a sensitive stomache and the doxy and minocyclin would mess with it., he put me on a sample set of this pill, and it didnt affect my stomache at all, and it works after a week or 2. the pills do not CURE pimples, but lessens the oils in your body to prevent new ones. although it would help, there will always be those few stubborn ones.

PS>>>>> KEEP ON YOUR MEDICATION>>>> i didnt.. and i ended up back where i started -.-

Like what chula says, my dermatologist tells me that the first few weeks you'll get the WORST acne you have ever gotten, but once you pass that stage it'll start to clear enormously. Mine didn't take as long as 3 months but I did go through that "worst" stage. :] just hang in there.
