So I'm getting ready to fly out for Hollywood Bowl and just out of habit I'm cleaning my room and any dirty clothes in the hamper before I go. It's just the way I was raised because Jamaicans are uber paranoid about dying and having people go through your dirty home and unmentionables as a result...lol.

A friend has the opposite mentality and always leaves something dirty behind as a sort declaration that she can't possibly die when away on a trip because she has to get home and clean. She figures the fear of post mortem mortification is enough to ward off calamity or at least force her to survive through whatever befalls her.

Either reason is a bit morbid, but it left me curious to know what camp other people fall into and what's your reasoning behind it?

I usually clean up everything before I leave out on vacation.

my family closes everythinggg (air conditioners, electricity one time, etc etc) !
so especially when it gets hot, it'd be really gross to return to a smelly house/room :x

plus I'm always real lazy after vacations
before vacations I'm in that, 'oh hell yeah I'm going on vacation let's get ready!' sort of vibe
so I try to get everything done so when I get back, I can stilll relax ;D

we always clean after we go. but my house is usually always clean so it's not much of an event to go around and make things neat before leaving. it's good to come home to a nice and tidy home and relax though.

We all always clean before we leave; I think it'd be kinda weird to leave dirty things in your house when there are no people living in it. Bugs or something can come. ><
Also, after coming back from a trip, my family is usually lazy and don't really wanna do anything but relax and settle in, hehe. Don't wanna add more dirty clothes to the laundry to do when we come back. x_x
We turn off the AC and stuff off too; no point in wasting energy! =P

.. i mean its not like spotless but we make sure that nothings in the dishwasher, and stuff like that.

I clean everything before I leave to go on a trip. It makes me feel better knowing I have clean clothes once I get home lols.
I also make sure everything's disconnected from the walls and such but that's.. totally unrelated to the topic aha :x

Coming home to a clean room is the best, just gotta wash all the clothes i wore in Cali

I just usually leave everything as it is. I've never thought of that though. Maybe I will the next time xD

Usually I kinda clean the room up a bit so stuff doesn't get that dirty/dusty when I get back, but I don't clean the room FULLY..

You're right though, coming home to a clean room and cleaning it beforehand is better than having to clean it after you get back. =s

Anyway, I do clean up before leaving for a trip. I don't leave dirty stuff behind because when I go back and see that everything's a mess, I'd be stressed out. I mean, a trip is meant to de-stress, so yeah...
