My friends have suggested drinking protein shakes if I really wanted to gain weight. Not the lean mass kinda because that one is for muscle ( i don't want to get bulky!) , but the protein with soy products in it. I don't really understand the differences, can someone help me?

First off, should/can i do this? If so, which kind?

Thankyou!

if you want to gain weight, eat more calories than you burn. you don't need to go out there and buy expensive supplements. just eat a lot. eat lots of lean meats such as fish and chicken breasts. protein shakes don't really help you gain weight as they have a lot of protein but not calories. muscle juice or MHP up your mass is good for gaining weight. protein shakes have around 200 calories while weight gainers have around 1000 calories per serving

You either want to gain fat or muscle... I don't understand so you mean you want to get fat?

No you don't need protein shakes ~ eat a lot of carbs.

Protein shakes are for lean muscle tissue, the toned organic matter that makes you stronger, fitter, gives the curves and sleek lines.

If you want soft pudge then carbs - 6 meals a day 7 meals a day you'll have to accomodate your metabolism.

But you don't look like you need to gain weight.

This is why most asian girls don't have firm boobs or a firm butt ~ ^^ "without looking muscular" it is amazing what a lot of pushups, crunches, running, sprinting, clean diet can do! And have a little fat softening up the features via CARBS!

Actually its not a bad thing if you take your statement LITERALLY smile.gif

An illusion of softness is actually what the swimsuit aspect of models/fitness girls do for those competitions/jobs/photoshoots.

Yes ~ you don't need to purchase supplements ~ protein shakes should be used by people whom are exercising consistently. You want calories and carbs for your goal laura. Oh and go wild on olive oil, avocados, condiments etc.

Cake, Pastries, Korean Bakeries, Chinese Bakeries, Those baked Pretzels at movie theaters, Nachos etc.

PIZZA! HAMBURGERS! TACOS BURRITOS! Chinese Food!

Candy! JUICE! GOGOGO!

Actually, you don't have to worry about becoming bulky. Girls don't have enough testosterone to look ripped.

she didn't mean "muscular." looking lean, thin, and toned is WAY better, in my opinion, than looking thin and soft (no muscles and a lot of fat). don't try to gain weight with junk food. eating protien like shiblanom said will help you gain weight (both muscle and fat). and btw, being lean doesn't mean that your muscles have to show at all. it just means that you won't look... squishy if that's how you put it.

My boyfriend drinks those all the time in a desperate attempt to put on weight and he hasn't gained an ounce...

if he works out and rests enough then hes not getting the caloric intake he needs. I'm skinny and hard for me to gain weight, but I have previously gained 5 lbs of muscle from drinking a protein shake a day on top of eating constantly. He should be eating at least every 3 hours.

He's in the army so that's not exactly an option. Plus he runs about 4 miles a day so he's probably burning it all off anyway.

If he can't eat constantly, he just has to increase his portion sizes, if possible.
