Is It Bad To Shower Twice+ A Day? I do very often >.<

I go to school in the morning and take a shower before that, then work at a gymnastics gym in the evening and usually take another after that, but doing some research I hear it can be bad for your skin.. especially since I like taking steamy hot showers >.>
But on the other hand, if I don't shower after work, often times my hair gets incredibly greasy and nappy, and my face gets really oily as well, so I don't know what I can do to satisfy both conditions and keep my skin normal..
How many times do you shower a day? Do you think it's bad for the skin?

Ummm... yea. That makes your skin extremely dry.
It just sucks the moisture out of you D:
Just keep the water at "warm".

Once a day is enough, probably at night would be better.

Anyways I did hear it's bad for your hair (you strip essential oils off your hair if you shampoo it everyday) and I also find that my skin is dryer when I get out of the shower.
Maybe shower every 2 days? Or will your hair/face get too greasy or something? :S
Also, don't use steaming hot water. Lukewarm is fine.

after your workout, wash your body/face/hair with just WATER and not soap.

i personally like to shower every day not only to save water but because i have dry skin if i shower everyday.
you should shower once a day and only use soap on areas you feel are dirty(usually arms, legs, and chest dont need soap to get clean)
and second , dont take hot steamy showers... take warm showers... the hotter the water, the drier your skin will get.

But yeah two hot steamy showers per day will make your skin so incredibly dry. Cut down to one shower per day. But yeah it isn't healthy to wash your hair everyday too!

Also I use wax in my hair so it makes my hair even greasier so it makes me really tempted to take showers in the evening.
I don't use shampoo/soap every time I shower though, most of the time it's just a rinse off.. I'll try turning the heat down and avoid hot baths I guess.. I mean I guess if my skin's dry I'm obviously doing something wrong T.T
But as another question, what are the downsides of skin being dry?

i get super dry after a shower. :T
lotion after showering?
i think washing your hair's bad though.
if you do it too often, that is.
it takes out the natural oil or something?
a gift to that person, a beautiful thing."

Actually, that's wrong, there were so many "curing potions" then for bad skin based on stuff like arsenic and lead, which lead to so many accidental poisonings but also to muderers who started using them to kill since arsenic accumulates in the body until it kills you. Both arsenic and lead cause a fair skin temporarily (made acne go away and made skin whiter), ... but at the same time they destroy your liver and kill you.
As for showering once a year, that happened in medieval times, not in Victorian times, and only the nobility did that... they also had to cake on make-up to cover the rampant acne they suffered from the filth, and they used gold scratching hooks for the skin diseases the had on their backs and legs. They also never washed their wigs (which they wore all the time) and there were often cases of animals living in there.

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/dry-skin/...N=complications
-Folliculitis. This is an inflammation of your hair follicles.
-Cellulitis. This is a potentially serious bacterial infection of the skin's underlying tissues that may enter the lymphatic system and blood vessels.
These complications are most likely to occur when your skin's normal protective mechanisms are severely compromised. For example, severely dry skin can cause deep cracks or fissures, which can open up and bleed, opening the way for invading bacteria.
even though this is probably describing chronic dry skin, it's probably still valid for so-so dry skin, just on a smaller scale.
in the morining, a quick rinse with cold water can fix bed head
my brother often dumps a bunch of cold water from the sink onto his head and blowdries it the way he likes it. he has short hair, so it's really easy
id suggest using cold air for the hairdryer
using the hot blast will still dry out your hair
when you suddenly change your routine, it will probably take a while for your body to adjust
but cutting down on the heat and shampoo products will definitely have a good long term effect ^^
