i'm really scared.
last year, i went thru a major depression because of my weight
i don't want to go back to where i was b4.
so please help me,

for some reason, i ran everyday for 30 mins for almost 2 months.
but i haven't lost ny weight.
and i don't even know what's happening nymore

but i remember tht last year, my friend told me to never eat after a workout because it'll make me gain weight. and something about the food you eat after a workout will double the calories or something. or be converted into fat.
is tht true?
cuz then i read on the internet tht u should, and then some say u shudnt.
so i don't kno which one is right.

but,, today, my dad made me sushi after i ran.
and i didn't want to say.. oh can i eat it tommorrow?
so i ate it. and at the same time, i felt relli guilty cuz i'm not sure if i would gain weight or not by eating after running.

I LOLed when I first read the title - but seriously, sushi isn't very fattening, is it? My friend ate a giant cake after working out - now THAT's bad.... but next time, try to eat something like celery instead - that will have the negative effect and make you lose wight JUST by eating celeries alone smile.gif
Thank you for the Music..

Sushi actually is pretty darn healthy with the vegetables, the fish, and the rice. At least I think it is.....plus it's pretty low in calories. I don't think eating after you run is incredibly bad, but I think it might be safer to drink water after you run instead or eat fruits/veggies. ^^

agreed, sushi isn't fattening, it's bad if you eat a lot at once. exercising after eating is indeed bad. you should at least wait until 30minutes or more before exercising.

Depends what type of sushi you ate. There's all different kinds of sushi... most is healthy, some can be fattening. But, it should be alright because people don't tend to eat huge amounts of sushi at one go.

No, it's not bad to eat food after you workout. If anything, it's good because that's when your body is prime to accept nutrients required for recovery.

If you exercise for 30 minutes a day for 2 months straight and have not lost weight, you NEED to check out your diet.

Diet matters more than exercising. Diet is probably 80% of weightloss and 20% exercising.

my dad told me you should after exercising, not before.
he says that it isn't a good idea to eat before exercising.
well because it would make you sick.

My dad always works out first and comes home, takes a
shower, and then eats dinner. And my dad doesn't gain
any weight. He did this for quite a while now and he lost
a BUNCH of weight. but yeahh i guess it depends on the
person.

if you do eat after working out, try eat a little instead of
bloating yourself xD!

hope i helped?? lol!! sorry for blabbering so much.. x((!

This ^^

And there's no such thing as a food that gets you fatter if you eat it at a specific time in the day. All that "don't ear carbs aftr 6 pm" and "don't eat carbs after a workout" are NOT. TRUE

LMAO, NO! food is food, weight gain is a matter of energy expenditures exceeds energy intake.

Also calories don't change in your body! it doesn't double (i've never heard or read that info ever!)
I acutually consider sushi VERY good for your health, because of omega3 fatty acids...tho parasites from not freezing fish can be a problem too

aslong as you escerise you're good! ^^

ACTUALLY!!!
There is a part of sushi that is very fattening.
The RICE.
To make sushi rice, you have to put alot of sugar melted into vinegar. So the rice portion has alot of suga which equals to fat.
But the rest of the sushi is pretty healthy.

I would wait an hour or two before exercising after eating a meal. You need to digest and blahblhablah
blahblahblah

actually, not eating carbs later in the day is TRUE your body metabolizes carbohydrates progressively slower throughout the day and it's best to eat them at breakfast and cut down on them for dinner ^^

but i suspect that you're not really running very hard for 30 minutes? is it actually like 30 min of elliptical or...30 mins of quick walking?

people's workouts usually SOUND a lot better than they really are.

according to my biology and physiology teachers, they say that you should eat SOME carb an hour before working out (when you exercise, ur body uses carbs before protein and also protein takes longer to digest, so carbs is best to keep you energized). after work out, you should eat some protein within 2 hours (ur body need protein to repair the muscle loss, ur trying to burn fat, not muscle).

Ya, Babiebim is right, you want to have some carbs, particularily before exercise as you want to burn fat and not muscle. As for eating after exercise, there really isn't a problem. I would suggest chocolate milk, as told by my nutrition professor Stuart Philips.

The point also is to gain muscle as Babiebim said. The more muscle you have, the better your body is at burning the "energy/calories" you consume.

Hope that helps.

it is okay to eat after a workout. According to my gym trainer, it is good to eat within 45 mins after your workout. it is all about eating healthy.

From my understanding, your metabolism actually goes up after exercise? So if anything, it's best to eat after exercise.

Sushi isn't very fattening anyways.

Any proof for this?

As far as I know, your stomach does NOT care what time it is, and one needs to consume calories and get nutrients throughout the day. Especially carohydrates, because your body uses a LOT of them. Your brain sucks up 10% of the glucose you digest, and it's functioning 24/7.

There is NO SUCH THING as a FATTENING food. I lost over 10 pounds and I ate lots of rice.... just not so much to go over my daily calorie needs. I even ate some chocolate from time to time. And still I lost weight.

I eat before and after workout.
But i try to eat simple carbs like apple BEFORE the workout to give me energy
cuz i can't exercise on an empty stomach, it will gives me headaches
FYI it's important for you to eat AFTER exercise cuz that's the time when your body will absorb the nutrients from the food real fast
