Soo.....yeah I was wondering what they were so I googled it and then there was this youtube vid of the operation so I clicked it (I'm stupid.....I know)
and now I'm scared haha

Does everyone get wisdom teeth? and does everyone have to remove them?
What's the percentage of people having it anyway TT^TT
I'm 15......so I don't think I have them but what are the chances that I have them and have to remove them........

sorry if someone already posted this.

Some people say the pain goes away in a week or two- but if it stays you have to have them removed. Mine bothered me for about a week- but the pain went away eventually. Felt like I had an apple stuffed in my mouth.

I think everyone has them- some people just aren't bothered by the pain. That or they already had a lot of space in their mouth to begin with.

Oh BTW, I didn't get mine removed. They're still here. I guess I have a big mouth X]

The chances of having to remove them are pretty large, because it's a common surgery. In fact, I'm having mine this summer, along with my dad. And I know so many friends, and friends of friends that have had it too.

Your dentist will recommend it if he notices that while your wisdom teeth are growing in, that there seems to not be enough room in your mouth for them.

The good part is that although you'll be swollen for about a week(or less), since it's so common people will understand why you look like a talking watermelon~

so technically if I have a lot of space in my mouth then the chances that I have to remove them are slim?
because I think I have a lot of space in my mouth haha
Gah....I don't like going to the dentists T0T
going because of my braces are bad enough T0T

Just go and get them done anyway.
It'll probably be better in the long run.
I have to get mine removed in the summer and I don't like surgery either.
I'm not even going to be using pain killers after since I can't swallow a pill bigger than birth control.

I only have one wisdom tooth which I'm going to get pulled out eventually its not really big at all. Its a really small wisdom tooth and I don't have to have it pulled out but its a choice. My mom says maybe the tooth is a reflection on my wisdom sleep.gif

My brother has all 4 but only had 2 pulled out right now so he actually has to go back later and get the rest pulled out. When he got it pulled out he says it wasn't that bad but he went under anesthesia so he was asleep the whole time bc the 2 he got pulled out was growing sideways and not up and down but he was a cute chipmunk for a couple of days.

and my mom has never had any wisdom teeth which makes me jealous.

Even if you those wisdom teeth stays there PERFECTLY.. I wish you best to brush it well every time you brush your teeth, because if you don't, its going to get cavities and cavities isn't something we want sad.gif
My recommendation, get all 4 pull out, because like Billie said, its just going to help in the long run. If you decided to get it out later when you get old..its going to hurt MORE AND its going to take a while to heal.
So again, it's best you take it out asap, because your gum heal fast when you're young.

I got mine pull out last summer, 2 on the bottom. Next week, 2 on top. Now I got mine all out smile.gif
I don't know about you, but I'm not living off a 40-40 for my life.

I'm dreading this process -___-

My wisdom teeth on the bottom jaw are growing inwards so I might have to get oral surgery on it. Ahhh.. I'm scared. They're not even out of the gum yet!

its really no problem...i got my taken out 2 years ago. its painless if you get anesthetics and the only downside is your cheek swell real big.

also you cant eat a lot of foods for almost a month...=(

I got mine taken out before they were fully grown in, so they had to cut into my gums to remove them...but I was knocked out. I basically just fell asleep, then woke up with no wisdom teeth and no idea where I was cuz the anesthetics. No pain except maybe for the swelling that happened a couple days later...

Removing the wisdom teeth isn't uncommon or anything. Either you have it or you don't. I'm 18 and I don't have it. My parents don't either. So who knows? If your jaw is big enough, and there's enough room for the wisdom to grow in without moving your other teeth then you don't need to get it removed. But if you do, then it can be veerrry painful. My friend had her gums cut open to get them before it grew out. You just get a swollen cheek for weeks before you go back to normal.

I got mine taken out two years ago as well. It was a pain because it made all my teeth shift forward which lead me to get braces once my wisdom was taken out. dry.gif

Usually just get it examine and see if you need to have them taken out.

Also, when i got mine taken out, i was there awake and felt the whole thing (well, i had anesthetic so i didn't "feel" pain) usually after a couple of afters i felt it. What made it even more frustrating was that the pain killers they gave me didn't work at all. tongue.gif

your wisdom teeth will only grow when u are 17-18 years old. that is the common age though it can be different for everyone.

if it grows beautifully straight, its okay to keep them. but if it grows vertically, then u have to remove it because it will cause the tooth besides it to get cavities.

anyway, they'll shot you with anesthetic so u won't feel the pain. and the swollen gums will be there for a week before it goes off. its best to keep the surgery place clean by gargling with warm salt water cause u can't really clean the surgery part.

and its best to remove 2 at one time which is the lower and the upper one. give urself a break, probably around 3 weeks or so and take out the other side.

and! get it remove when you are in your twenties, it heels faster & better.

hope this help smile.gif

Lol, my sister did that last month when her wisdom teeth started to grow. She's only 16 right now, though.
She watched the video and freaked herself out, it was... amusing, despite how much a spazz she can be.

Anyway, mmm... Many people get them, but there are those who don't, like my dad's side of the family. It's odd :| Mine started to grow when I was 17, and I had the top two removed. I would've gotten the bottom two removed as well, but one on the bottom wasn't fully grown. It never grew since then and I'm 20. However, after a dental checkup and really good x-rays last February, we saw that the one that didn't fully grow was actually... angled :x It's hard to explain but it definitely wasn't good so a few weeks later, I went to the oral surgeon and they took care of it pretty quickly.

The surgery only lasted like 20-30 minutes, I think? I was asleep the whole entire time and the anesthesia is... Wow. Knocked me out right away. I even had a dream lols. Best sleep I ever had in a really long time laugh.gif

As for pain, the only time it ever hurt was when the anesthesia was wearing off. Just make sure to take the pain killers they give you, and blahblah, you'll be all right. My main problem was not being able to eat rice for two weeks, and when you brush your teeth... Now that was just a pain in the neck :|||

some people don't have them, while some people have them but don't have to get them removed.
if you get put to sleep, though, then it isn't that bad. My mouth hurt for about a week, but it wasn't anything intolerable.
even if you're conscious throughout the operation it doesn't hurt, it's just a bit freaky to know they're opening up your gums haha.

the only thing you have to worry about is dry sockets...oh lord that was the most painful experience of my life T_T (you won't get dry sockets if you follow the instructions your surgeon gives you).

I don't have to remove my wisdom teeth, thank goodness! I had my braces in before they grew in so they just adjusted.
