I'm checking Melon and it doesn't seem to be updated yet.

It's 3:40AM in Korea now but many Sones are staying up for Melon to update. The suspense is almost like the teaser day. It should have updated by now but is not so everyone is going crazy

The reason why they are so anxious is because Melon debut is an important record and it is going to be the FIRST indication of how Genie is going to do on the charts. Ranking within top 20 is the goal. Only two other songs in kpop have achieved that - Gee at 10 and Fany's By Myself at 15.

I have done Graphic Arts in high school, and the #1 thing not to do is using someone work claim as yours. Also, find out the history of the picture before used it.

THIS IS INCREDIBLE. UHEARD OF, even. KPOP History has once again been rewritten.

If you're new to charts. Genie is the second song ... EVER in the history of melon to be in the top 10 after the day of release. The only other song, and the first one was Gee! Now Genie has the title for best debut song in the history of SM, as well as melon in general. #6 is unheard of. Geez.

Only SNSD can beat SNSD's record. That's all I have to say. I wanted them to hit top 5, but I guess their next comeback single can/will do that. Always proving the fans wrong. This actually certifies that SNSD is ... a huge asset to SM in my mind. Album sales aside, the one thing SM artists fails at doing is selling digital sales, which what a lot of the industry is into nowadays, but with two singles back to back being able to make such a huge splash on the online market, I can feel a huge sigh of relief from SM. Not only are our girls profitable when it comes to physical copies, but also digital, that is insane and will help them so much. I'm proud to be a SONE, so I can only imagine how the girls feel right now. Amazing job.

yea seeing the controversial album cover as a graphic student now i know why i had to take history & art history lol.
this is what happened when someone didn't to their history studies
especially when it's well known that Korean people are really sensitive about this whole thing.
i mean the Japanese & Dutch went to my country and did some crazy cruel stuff too, but i guess we're not that sensitive about this kinda issue lol.

and it's so weird how they put YooYul in the middle with the other girls around.
as snsd fans we know we love all 9 and stuff, but from others' POV who's not that familiar with the fandom, it's just gonna be like "oh so those 2 are the popular ones and then there's the rest of the girls" .. the composition is just off man.
when you design something you're supposed to see the final picture from everyone's POV not just those who's familiar with the subject.
and please don't think i'm being jealous just cuz my fave member isn't in the middle

yeah that's true...me to. at first we're thinking what's the relevance of history in arts...
bec. some designs that you will use might give a meaning and some intentionally put designs "as codes"
in order to express something to its target reader/audience...
i'm not saying that the artist who made the cover is expressing something to the world...
its just that people might misunderstood the layout and design of a work..
so its really important to study history and think first what should be the appropriate designs for a certain work.

These charts are the big 5 and are used by Music Bank. (Cyworld also popular but is not included in Mubank)

The next big record we are looking for is the "ALL KILL" - getting no 1 on all 5 charts. This year only Gee and Lollipop got allkills. Gee got in on the 2nd day. Let's see if Genie can match that.
